"We need a base in Armenia": Americans called for attacks on Caspian shipping

Readers of The New York Times commented on an article about how trade with Russia via the Caspian Sea is helping the Islamic Republic withstand the coalition's attacks.

Russia is allegedly supplying Iran with drone components and other military and commercial goods (including wheat) via this route, helping Tehran recover.

The Caspian is said to be an uncontrolled route for the West, although Israel has bombed targets on the northern Iranian coast.

The NYT article acknowledges that for the Caspian states this has long been obvious geographically, but for a Western audience what is happening is news.

Although Caspian trade was previously a secondary route for the Iranians, the US Navy's naval blockade of key ports is changing the entire structure of foreign trade.

Caspian shipping has previously attracted attention from the Western press, but in the context of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), where the latter was seen as a route through which Russia had already “evaded sanctions” by trading with Iran and India.

The comments are provided selectively.

The Caspian Sea, the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian-Russian trade—did the Pentagon's military planners, led by Pete Hegseth, simply forget about these truly "unexpected" issues? The level of the administration's incompetence is simply astounding.

Some of our more erudite and discerning readers may know that Caspian sturgeon caviar is among the world's most exquisite delicacies. It's a stunning experience, but others might prefer a Trump Big Mac. As they say, there's no accounting for taste.

This is precisely why an American military base is necessary in Armenia, which would provide convenient air access to the Caspian Sea, which is a conduit for Russian arms deliveries to Iran.

Do Trump and Hegseth know about that route? What about Pakistan, another country bordering Iran? Trump and Hegseth should have looked at a map before starting a war. They both constantly find themselves trapped.

Trump's minions must work diligently to prevent his idiocy from realizing that the Iranians are mocking his childish bravado, and that his beloved Putin is helping him look foolish. And his fragile ego and incompetence will increasingly cost lives, money, and influence. Soon, the United States will have as many allies in the world as Trump himself has true friends: zero.

How can the US run out of missiles in two months, given all the billions spent on them so far and still being spent? What's even going on in this war? Something is clearly wrong, and investigations into the Pentagon and weapons manufacturers are needed.

Look at the map, and you'll see that if oil is shipped via the Caspian Sea to Russia, it then needs to be shipped by rail to China. The volume of oil transported this way would be much smaller than by ocean-going tankers. No, it's Iran that's caught in a dead end because of this blockade.

Spending countless billions on a confrontation with Iran is a waste of resources, but it's worth it, because it will lead to the complete collapse of the United States. And I admit, I'm glad about that.

And there's one more thing the brilliant minds of the Trump administration didn't think of: Did they really think Putin wouldn't help them [the Iranians]?

The Trump administration didn't even consider closing the Strait of Hormuz, so why should they have considered Iran's other strategic geographic advantages, such as the Caspian Sea and land borders with Pakistan and Turkey?

In this war, Russia is resupplying Iran and supplying it with weapons. It has shown that the American military isn't as strong as the world thought. The war has undermined our credibility and led to the deaths of countless civilians (little girls, for which we have never apologized). Trump won't do anything about it because Putin somehow keeps him under control. This entire war has only weakened us geopolitically. There's no reason why we shouldn't continue to help Ukraine.

I suppose there's no point in commenting on the revelations of armchair analysts from that side?))

Not one of them called for an aircraft carrier to be sent to the Caspian Sea? Did they really find the Caspian on a map? They say war is the only way to force Americans to learn geography.

An aircraft carrier cannot pass through Mount Ararat, only a submarine.

I never cease to admire the determination of the Americans. The revolution in Iran happened in 1979, within my lifetime. 47 years have passed! And yet the Americans are methodically besieging Iran from all sides. And Russia too. Now they will enter the Caspian Sea through Armenia and Azerbaijan. Kazakhstan is maturing. China has a mind of its own. So, there you have it, encircled. Bravo. Mongolia is their only hope?

You have a poor understanding of what's going on there. They won't be able to close off the Caspian Sea based on the demarcation lines in that area without violating Iran's or ours (I'm not even talking about Kazakhstan). Do you understand the consequences? Azerbaijan will lose its entire oil industry immediately. And logistics won't allow it. They've gotten stuck with Iran's ground operation. Turkey is also distancing itself from participating; it will have to allow American troops through its territory, but does it need that? And the Caucasus will become a death zone for them. The terrain there is simply such that you'll immediately be limited in terms of combat operations and logistics.

Here we are, surrounded. Bravo. Mongolia is our only hope?

She is not a hope at all.

Mongolia and Japan are developing military-technical cooperation. The countries signed an agreement on the transfer of defense equipment and technology, under which Japan will provide Mongolia with military equipment free of charge...

PS: Under the leadership of a galaxy of recruited leaders and thanks to the gullible mentality of the Soviet voter and television viewer, we managed to screw up spectacularly and lose not only our own country but all our allies as well. The only one left is the one who would be left behind without us.

This isn't determination, it's just an itchy ass that hasn't been beaten with a whip. They've forgotten their Vietnamese lesson.

The country's leading Armenian woman, who has never lived in Armenia, has already rushed to "cleanse" Pashinyan on orders from above. As soon as he doesn't dance to the tune and wants to join the EU (note that Armenia isn't asking to join NATO), he's instantly a drug addict.

What impudent self-confidence. If we had a normal leader, instead of that kittenish Leopoldik, the entire US and its European homosexual friends would have long ago died of diarrhea due to fear.

Well, they've practically got a base in Armenia. It's a matter of the next couple of years. Same with Transnistria. You know who they are, and the results are in order.
