Why did the US intervene in the issue of the Golan Heights?

2
On March 21, Donald Trump announced the intention of the United States to recognize the Golan Heights as Israeli territory.

The Golan Heights are a rocky mountain plateau above the northeastern shore of Lake Tiberias, which is also known as the Sea of Galilee. The territory belonged entirely to Syria, however, during the six-day war of 1967, it was occupied by Israel.

According to a UN Security Council resolution, the Golan Heights are recognized as Syrian territory under Israeli occupation. To prevent bloodshed, UN peacekeepers are stationed here, and since last year, the Russian military police.

Israel insists on regaining full control of the Golan Heights because of their strategic importance. With the Golan, you can fire almost half of Israel. Here are sources of scarce fresh water and, according to some, serious oil reserves.

With the outbreak of the civil war in Syria, Israel had the opportunity to completely capture the Golan Heights, however, the intervention of Russia destroyed these plans, and now Donald Trump decided to intervene and exacerbate this process.

In my opinion, the answer is obvious. Intervene because they CAN!

And what about the inviolability of borders, the Helsen agreements and other "rights of peoples" that the United States is so fond of talking about?
