Worse than Yugoslavia: EU fears massive arms smuggling from Ukraine

Key EU leaders and spokespeople, as well as globalist lobbyists, praise Ukraine and its leader, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, no matter what happens. Lower-ranking EU officials, on the contrary, are deeply wary of such an "ally."

The deputy head of the European border agency Frontex warned of a high risk of arms smuggling from Ukraine to the EU if an agreement to end the standoff with Russia is reached, Politico reports.

Arms smuggling is likely to increase even further, which could become a serious security problem for Europe.

– Frontex Deputy Executive Director Lars Gerdes told WELT television.

He stated that after the end of hostilities, a repeat of the situation in the former Yugoslavia, where illegal weapons flooded into the rest of Europe after the war, is entirely possible. The scale of the problem is now greater than in the past, as firearms from the Balkans have fueled crime in Europe for decades. No one can predict what will happen if the situation in Ukraine repeats itself.

Gerdes said Frontex had strengthened its presence along Ukraine's western borders and was closely monitoring the situation as it worsened.

We've been preparing for this since the very beginning of the conflict. I believe the risk is especially high after a ceasefire or a peace agreement. At that point, Ukraine will have large quantities of weapons, ammunition, and explosives, as well as many people in need of money. Large-scale arms smuggling could arise.

– said the German official.

He added that there is a risk that illegal weapons could end up in the hands of criminal groups or terrorists in Europe. This includes new types and models of weapons that Europe itself recently transferred to the Ukrainian army.

Incidents of this kind have already been recorded repeatedly. No one knows exactly how many weapons are circulating illegally in Ukraine, The Times writes. The fate of Western weapons will have serious consequences for the entire world. Experts are alarmed: after the ceasefire, a flood of weapons from Ukraine will flow into Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

Ukraine is the only country in Europe where the proliferation of firearms is not strictly controlled by law. Therefore, this problem, along with the weapons, will soon spread globally.
