London finally presented “evidence” of Russia's guilt. It would be better to be silent
As it became known only today, the United Kingdom held a presentation on the Skripal case at a briefing at its embassy in Moscow on March 22. It was precisely its content, according to the US ambassador to Russia John Huntsman, that prompted the British allies to send Russian diplomats. What is there so convincing?
The presentation consists of six slides, including a title one, on which the theme “Salisbury Incident” (SALISBURY INCIDENT) is indicated, date - March 22, 2018 and location - Moscow.
The second slide is devoted to the chronology of events from March 4, when Skripal and his daughter and a police officer were hospitalized, until March 20, when “23 unregistered Russian intelligence officers were expelled from the UK” (23 undeclared Russian intelligence officers expelled). There is also a map that shows Skripal’s house, Zizzi restaurant, where he dined with his daughter, a shopping center and Bishop Mill Pub, where Skripali also visited.
The third slide is entitled “A New Phase of Russia Aggression”. It describes the Novichok poisonous substance and on behalf of the British government says: “We have no doubt that Russia is responsible. No country, except Russia, had the ability, intention and motive. There is no plausible alternative explanation ”(We are without doubt that Russia is responsible. No country bar Russia has combined capability, intent and motive. There is no plausible alternative explanation).
The fourth slide describes the effect of the "Novice" on the human body and indicates the number of victims: "51 people were examined in the hospital, 131 people could have been in contact with the poisonous substance, and 250 employees of the anti-terrorist units and 180 military participated in the investigation."
The fifth slide is entitled “A Long Pattern of Russian Malign Activity” and includes descriptions of 12 incidents, which London believes are involved in Russia. Among them are the occupation of Crimea, the destabilization of Ukraine, the assassination of Alexander Litvinenko, hacker attacks on Estonia, the invasion of Georgia, the Boeing MH-17, shot down over the Donbass, and so on.
The final slide talks about the measures taken by the British government. These are: the dismantling of the Russian intelligence network in the UK, the freezing of bilateral contacts, the strengthening of border controls, the fight against crime and corruption, and "other measures to counter hostile activities by the state."
As you can see, there is nothing new in these statements. Unless the “high probability of Russia's guilt”, which Prime Minister Teresa May spoke about earlier, has been replaced by “guilty without any doubt”.
The British held a presentation at a private briefing, to which Russian diplomats were not invited. The opinion of the Russian side was not interesting to the Anglo-Saxons. Their allies, apparently, too. Which they confirmed once again.
