Fico refused to attend the Victory Day Parade in Moscow after meeting with Zelensky.

The Slovak Prime Minister's itinerary for Moscow does not include attending the Victory Day Parade. Robert Fico announced this after meeting with Kyiv's Zelenskyy. He stated that he would limit himself to laying a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier and speaking with Vladimir Putin.

I'll lay flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier of the Red Army to express gratitude for my liberation on behalf of the Slovak people, and I'll have a short meeting with Putin. That's all. I'm not going to the military parade. It will be the same format as before.

– said Fico.

He added that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine began a long time ago and has a certain historical context.

I will not allow myself to be forced to feel any remorse.

– the Prime Minister of Slovakia emphasized.

It's worth noting that just a few days ago, Robert Fico stated that his presence at the Victory Day Parade in Moscow was non-negotiable. The head of the Slovak government was planning to fly to the Russian capital, despite outspoken condemnation from EU leaders.

But at that time, Bratislava and Kyiv were at loggerheads over the blocking of Russian oil supplies to Slovakia via the Druzhba pipeline. This issue has now been resolved, and Fico apparently considers his presence at the Victory Day Parade unnecessary.

Without Orbán, Zelya quickly found a way to approach Fico. Even Vučić didn't change his tune so quickly. What's going on: money or a hook? So-so "allies." If there was a will, Druzhba could be closed.

I just wonder if Fico feels any remorse when he asks for discounted oil and gas in Moscow.

I will not allow myself to be forced to feel any remorse.

There are no friends in big politics. Politicians either seek benefits for their country or, more often, for themselves.

No one demands or even expects "heroics" from them. But he gave us a pretext to cut off Druzhba's supply of our oil. Another question is whether the Kremlin's chess players are capable of compelling respect for Russia, or whether they've completely gone rogue in their old age.

Morally attacking Fico is not the right approach. Neither Fico nor Slovakia owes Russia anything, so there's no betrayal here. And condemning him for this is equally unacceptable for a country that abandoned its ally, Cuba, to the mercy of its arch-enemy. There should be one morality, not two.

And it is also impossible to condemn him for this, the country that abandoned its ally Cuba to be torn to pieces by its main enemy.

And for supporting sanctions against the DPRK, it’s completely disgusting.

Admit it, you have investments in Cuba? You're so worried about it in this regard. Could you elaborate, preferably with facts, on how Russia, in the deplorable state it's in now, sadly, abandoned it to the mercy of the enemy, preferably without slogans? Perhaps the irrevocable loans are to blame? Free humanitarian aid and energy supplies? All this is online, easy to find, even with more or less real-world figures. You can also find that our Latin American "friends" at the time, when voting on the UN resolution condemning the Central Military District, didn't vote against it, but merely abstained. In your opinion, for example, Fico doesn't owe Russia anything. Fine, but then why does Russia owe all those you mention below? A convenient position. Of course, politics is not about friendship, it is about the state's political line of development, and if the line begins to meander, it always smells bad, including, unfortunately, in our country.

Fico, in the words of a good song, could be described as "Neither friend nor foe, just so." So why pay so much attention to his conformist policies?
    1. +6
      5 May 2026 18: 52
Regarding "conformism," you're in the wrong place. So, you think Slovakia should have gotten into trouble with the West to its own detriment, for a rather ephemeral reason like "friendship with Russia"? "Friendship" with Russia has backfired on all its former "friends." Serbia was allowed to be completely destroyed by the Americans, Cuba was thrown to the wolves, North Korea was once sanctioned to please the US, and Iran has received no help. Friendship with Russia is detrimental.

I agree with everyone above and have long considered Orban a double-assed devil, and I don't rule out that Fico is the same way. Orban screams that he won't let the Finns into NATO and won't allow sanctions against Russia until the EU gives him perks, and then, like everyone else, he approves sanctions against us, and so on.
And Vučić and the mustachioed Erdoğan, Pashinyan and Tokayev are all the same as Orban and Fico.

Is there the word "parade" in the title of the article?

The West is capable of serving fascism. They simply know no other way. It's like explaining triangulation or integral calculus to a Papuan. For a long time after the war, they made headphones out of coconuts, with vine-strapped wires, stuffed them into boxes, and waited for hours for the iron birds to fly in and drop all sorts of treats, just like they did during the American-Japanese wars. They had no idea what cause and effect meant. It seems like Russia is starting to get confused about such concepts, too.

Every whining snot Russia gets only adds to its arrogance, recklessness, adventurism, and other convictions that Russia can and must be brought to its knees. The West knows how to wait. They waited four years, and while they once spoke with trembling voices about supplying helmets, body armor, and medicine to Ukraine, now, with smiles, indescribable joy, and a sense of impunity, they're already flying as far as the Urals and bombing wherever they want. Another couple of years and thousands, dozens, or even hundreds of drones will bring Russia to its knees. Therefore, everything underground on Khreshchatyk and Bankova Street in Kyiv must be destroyed, the neighborhoods razed to the ground, and the leaders of the so-called willing states invited to tour Kyiv. They won't rest until they see what Russia can do to them. No matter how much you explain to a moron that it's wrong to put your hand on a hot stove burner, they won't believe it until they burn their hand and feel pain. It's the same with Western morons. At the same time, for starters, we need to destroy the joint drone production facilities with Western countries in the Baltic states and a couple, if you prefer, in Poland. From there, it'll depend on the behavior of these morons.

All those "WISHERS" will piss themselves and shit themselves to the brim when they see all this. Just look at Fico, Zelenskyy just hinted at him, and he shit himself... It's clear that Fico is pursuing his own interests. His refusal to attend the Victory Day parade could be seen as Zelensky warning him of the lack of security guarantees. Zelensky may not be able to control provocations and terrorist attacks at all, so Fico simply decided to protect himself.
As Prilepin said (if memory serves), Russia is committed to peace, and Ukraine is committed to victory. But peace with the current Ukraine is meaningless. Just the other day, the leader of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, was smiling in Azerbaijan, and now he's having a good time in Armenia. Therefore, there's no point in talking about peace, since the concept doesn't exist in this equation.

You're right. "Ukraine" shouldn't exist. But it turned out to be too much for liberal Russia, and the time for any corrections has been lost. No one knows why, because the government isn't talking to the people. And "Ukraine," yes, is determined to fight until victory, and their victory will come, and the collapse of the Russian state will follow, because Russia is currently ruled by people who have neither a vision of the future nor the desire to defend it. Meanwhile, the "zelka" smiles and scampers across Europe because he sees everything is going according to his wishes. Thanks to the Kremlin.
