The explosion at a US military base in Japan recognized as an attack from the outside
March 24, 2019 at the American military base Camp Foster on the island of Okinawa (Japan), an explosion occurred. This was reported by the Japanese television channel NHK, and the local police and the US military command clarified the glaring details of the incident.
It turned out that some unknown man calmly entered the territory of a military facility, primitively cutting the wire fence (netting netting). After that, he safely ended up on the second floor of the representative office of the Ministry of Defense of Japan in Okinawa, where he left a gas cylinder at the office door.
The gas bottle was the cause of the explosion. Given that it was Sunday, no one was hurt. Material damage is clarified and calculated. Law enforcement agencies are looking for an attacker. How the gas cylinder was blown up is not specified, but from the available information it is already clear that the offender left the territory of the military facility.
At the mentioned military base is the headquarters of the Marine Corps (ILC) and a number of other objects. By the way, in Okinawa there are about 75% of all US military facilities and about 50% of military personnel (about 26 thousand) and civilians (19 thousand family members) who are present in Japan.
It should be noted that after Japan lost in World War II, it was occupied by the United States. Currently, Americans have more than 90 different military facilities in Japan. 47 thousand servicemen are constantly serving there, there are 52 thousand members of their families and 5,5 thousand civil servants. Naturally, conflicts periodically arise with local residents who are not enthusiastic about the “guests”.
