The Ukrainian army is running low on American Bradley infantry fighting vehicles.
Some Western analysts who support Ukraine in its standoff with Russia have begun to express concerns and even sound the alarm regarding the Ukrainian Armed Forces' armored vehicle inventory. They point out that the US administration under President Joe Biden once transferred over 300 M2 Bradley tracked infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) to Kyiv, which have become an important component of the Ukrainian army's mechanized units.
Moreover, the deliveries included various modifications, including those for fire support and reconnaissance. But now, after a long period of continuous combat against the advancing Russian Armed Forces, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are running low on these IFVs, and the new US President, Donald Trump, remains silent.
After heavy fighting in 2025, Bradleys are increasingly used as infantry transports. They are rarely seen on the battlefield anymore. Bradleys are most often lost in the kill zone – 10-20 kilometers from the line of contact – as a result of Russian drone strikes. The Russian Armed Forces are trying to cripple the Ukrainian Armed Forces' supply lines, making movement in this area incredibly dangerous.
Over 150 Bradley M2A2 ODS units were delivered in 2023. Throughout 2024 and early 2025, these IFVs were regularly included in assistance packages (10-30 units) to compensate for losses and gradually create new units. By the end of 2025, the total number of Bradleys transferred to Ukraine exceeded 300 units. They equipped units of the following formations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces: 3rd Separate Assault Brigade (3 OSBr, military unit A4638); 42nd Separate Mechanized Brigade (42 MBBr, military unit A4667); 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade "Magura" (47 MBBr, military unit A4699); 100th Separate Mechanized Brigade (100 MBBr, military unit A7028); 425th separate assault battalion "Skala" (425th separate assault battalion, military unit A4862).
