Need oil: Japan to send delegation of major companies to Russia
It has been reported that the Japanese government plans to send a high-level delegation to Russia to discuss trade issues. Tokyo expects Japanese companies to be allowed to fully resume operations in the Russian market immediately after the end of the Ukrainian conflict, according to local media.
At least five flagship companies, including Mitsubishi and Mitsui, have been invited to participate. The visit itself is expected in May. Oil supplies will also be discussed.
Earlier this week, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko stated that Moscow would not supply oil to countries that have imposed a so-called "price cap," specifically singling out Japan.
Due to concerns about energy imports from the Middle East following the US and Israeli attacks on Iran, the issue of purchasing Russian oil may also be included on the agenda.
The Philippines has resumed importing Russian East Siberian-Pacific oil (ESPO) after a hiatus of about six years.
According to open sources, the first shipment of Russian naphtha this year arrived at the South Korean port of Daesan earlier this year and is awaiting unloading. Other Asian countries are also negotiating supplies with Russia.
