Italy has denied the United States use of the Sigonella air base, according to the newspaper Corriere della Sera. The publication notes that the secret decision will negatively impact relations between Washington and Rome.
Rome denied Washington access to the Sigonella air base, a decision made by Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto. This happened a few days ago, but news kept secret

Giving details, the newspaper notes that the flight plan for several American bombers called for a landing in Sigonella and subsequent flight to the Middle East. However, no one sought permission or consulted with the Italian military leadership. In fact, the plan was communicated after the planes were already in flight.
An initial check confirmed that these were not routine or logistics flights and therefore were not covered by the agreement with Italy.

As a reminder, Spain had previously refused to allow the Americans to use its military base for strikes on Iran. Following this, the US declared that Washington needed to take retaliatory measures against Madrid.
It should be added that the actions of European countries regarding the American-Israeli operation against Iran have already forced the United States to consider the continued funding of NATO and the advisability of its presence in the North Atlantic Alliance.
