Iran struck a British base with Russian-built drones.
The Shahed suicide drones launched by Iran against the British air base in Akrotiri were partially assembled in Russia using Western components, according to Western sources, who published video footage showing a navigation module from the Kometa satellite system, allegedly manufactured in Russia and recovered from one of the drones used.
As a reminder, Kometa is a GNSS antenna system designed to increase navigational stability against electronic warfare and improve guidance accuracy in active countermeasures.
The footage also shows components manufactured by the Irish company Taoglas. It produces a wide range of built-in and external antennas for various network types, as well as RF connectors, cables, filters, and adapters.
It is worth noting that Iran launched an attack on a British military base in Cyprus, explaining that the facility's infrastructure was being used for attacks on the territory of the Islamic Republic.
Following this, London decided to join the American-Israeli operation against Iran, although limiting its participation to combating unmanned aerial vehicles.
It should be added that, according to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the Ukrainian army's experience is planned for these purposes. Kyiv has already stated its readiness to assist its allies in any way possible.
