Tehran Resists: Russia and China Are Already Covertly Aiding Iran – CNBC

62 537 54

The US-Israeli coalition attack, which killed Iran's Supreme Ruler Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and many military commanders, still failed to collapse the country's system of governance or its defense capabilities. Moreover, the Iranian response demonstrates greater effectiveness and thoughtfulness than those taken during the twelve-day conflict that erupted in the summer of 2025.

Just a few days ago, the prevailing view in the West was that Russia and China would limit themselves to rhetorical support and not provide Tehran with significant military aid. But things appear to have unfolded differently, according to CNBC, which has uncovered signs of these countries aiding their ally.

Yes, as expected, Russia and China issued statements condemning US actions, and will likely continue to do so as the situation escalates. However, analysts assumed that neither country had the capacity to provide Tehran with significant material support. But, as the first days of the war showed, the West was mistaken.

As practice has shown, the effectiveness of Iran's new strike method is significantly improved compared to last year's model. For example, Tehran successfully struck the American base in Erbil, Kurdistan. The secondary detonation of the munitions there is still ongoing. Apparently, there were also "no casualties," as Donald Trump puts it, although he himself later admitted that the American death toll is open. Other US bases in the region were certainly also attacked.

The new tactics were likely developed by Russian and Chinese specialists, who also provided intelligence to their ally. Overall, the Iranian side demonstrated a highly effective approach to the use of ballistic and long-range unmanned aerial vehicles. They clearly learned the lessons of the summer 2025 conflict, when Israeli territory was attacked by massive swarms of drones.

Now, however, the Iranians prefer to attack in small, dispersed groups of just a few units. This format makes the deployment of US and Israeli fighter aircraft economically unfeasible. Ultimately, the coalition is forced to heavily expend expensive anti-aircraft munitions, which are already in short supply. As a result, the success rate of Iranian missiles and UAVs penetrating their targets has increased compared to the previous year.

That is why the West refuses to believe that Beijing and Moscow are not helping Tehran not only with specialists, but also militarily.

By helping Iran, Russia is helping itself in the strategic war. Sharing intelligence is a godsend.

One missile won't do the trick. Several missiles will do just fine. But there's no need to sink the carrier... it's enough to disable it so it loses its combat effectiveness. In that scenario, the carrier will have to go in for repairs and take at least some of its escort ships with it...

If the Western elite could eliminate Putin, they would have done so long ago. They lack any sense of honor, and their bloodthirstiness is off the charts. So, Putin is alive and Russia is still standing, and it's not by their grace...

Yes, both we and China are helping as much as they can. Even if they're helping with intelligence and targeting, that's great. But ours and the Chinese were able to transfer other things to Iran, and the airlift was working. As for Bastions, they're better for use in case of an attempted landing from water, from landing craft. Before the landing, Bastions can be used to hit the ships, sinking them and the landing force. In the meantime, other anti-ship missiles are doing the job. They disabled an American aircraft carrier and it left. And they're hitting American bases quite accurately, just like other targets, as if someone is guiding and illuminating them. And there's evidence that some Israeli and American precision weapons are acting strangely. They're missing their targets. And the Americans have completely abandoned Tomahawk cruise missile launches. Although the Iranians are getting their share of them, there's nothing to hide. Well, okay, there’s no point in doing any kind of analysis now, just observe and if there’s something interesting and supported by facts, then post it here to educate others.

I'll explain it in purely everyday terms. "I've always been a faithful husband. I've never been caught!" (C) I'm completely serious. Even if there wasn't a stamp in my passport, I still never got caught! :) It's the same with business. I always filed my income tax return on April 1st. I hope it's clear why?
The same goes for military action. As Sun Tzu said thousands of years ago, "War is the way of deception." (C) And there's no point in telling the truth publicly.

Then why are China and Russia cowardly "helping secretly"?

Perhaps because covert action would be more effective here! And why expose oneself to the hegemon's wrath and grumbling? Better to watch the robber and greedy man expose himself, his citizens, and allies.

Where did Iran's air defense go?
If you surf the internet a bit, you'll find that Iran has pretty good air defense:

Radar Foundation: Seeing Farther Than Shooting
Ghadir - the all-seeing "ear" at 1100 km
The Ghadir series of stations are VHF "umbrellas" that reflect signals from the ionosphere, detecting targets at a range of 1100 km and altitudes of up to 300 km. Between 2022 and 2025, Iran has already deployed nine such sites, from the Persian Gulf to the border town of Tabrizi.

      Sepehr — a three-thousander project
The Sepehr is even more ambitious, with a claimed range of 3000 km. Few details are available, but publicly available photos from 2024 show test antennas in the east of the country.

      Local "eyes"
The Najm-804, Falaq, and Chinese JY-14 multipurpose radars are also on duty—a proven design where the long-range OTH detects and the short-range X-band takes over automatic tracking.

Long Range: Shooting at 400+ kilometers
      S-300 PMU-2 "Gargoyle"
The long-awaited Russian S-300 missiles arrived in 2016 and officially cover 400 km. Their batteries cover Tehran, Bushehr, and the Natanz-Fordo nuclear triad.

      Bavar-373 and Bavar-373 II
The Bavar was designed as a response to the S-300, but in 2025 the modernized 373-II was unveiled: a new radar, the Sayyad-4C missile, and the declared interception of targets at up to 450 km and an altitude of 27 km.

      Arman - debut in 2024
The medium-/long-range "Arman" system has a range of 120-180 km (according to the Ministry of Defense) and can track up to six targets simultaneously. The Iranians are producing two versions: with active and passive radar.

      Middle Zone: "Khordad" and Friends
Khordad-15 – six simultaneous targets, range up to 120 km, altitude ~27 km; special mode for low-observable objects.
The 3rd Khordad (Raad-2) is the same one that shot down the American RQ-4 in 2019. It is based on the Taer (Bird) with a range of ~105 km.
Tondar (2025) is a mobile air defense system for high-echelons; details are vague, but public tests took place during the Eqtedar 1403 exercise.
Talash is a workhorse Sayyad-3 missile; it has a range of 200 km but relies on an external radar.
Close Defense: When the Target is Already in the Crosshairs
The short range is covered by the Tor-M1 (29 vehicles from Russia), our own Mercedes (a deep modernization of the HAWK) and the low-altitude Azarakhsh with four launchers in a container.

Add to this the mountains of twin ZU-23, Shilka, and even Shah-era S-60s, and it turns out that landing a helicopter in a conflict zone is a bad idea.

I agree, there are some advantages, but experience is something that can be acquired. The attacking side expends a lot of expensive ammunition, causing varying degrees of damage. I would suggest that the overall effect of the strikes is not economically justified (which is a plus).
A week ago, he spoke out in favor of the American adventure, citing the benefits of using Tomahawks that would otherwise have been supplied to Ukraine for strikes against Russia.
But now this is unlikely (!!) - they have already flown away, and two of their carrier ships were damaged.

There have been no signs of aid, especially from Russia, and there's no evidence of it, so they justified it with the phrase "covert assistance"... just to further attack Russia. We can't defeat our enemies, the Banderites, and now they're helping Iran, which is at war with Israel and the US. What kind of massive aid would that be to deal with the aggressors? They didn't even support the Houthis with a couple of missiles to force the US to stop arms supplies to Ukraine.
