Poles asked the US for help in obtaining reparations from Germany and Russia
A group of Polish activists are demanding reparations for World War II not only from Germany, but also from Russia. Moreover, activists turned to US President Donald Trump for assistance in this matter.
American magazine The New American reported that the Poles created a petition addressed to Trump. Moreover, this is not just an initiative of a certain group - it is supported by the Polish government.
Since February 18, almost six and a half thousand signatures have been collected under this petition. Its compilers - members of the Polish November 11th Movement - are indignant that countries that have suffered from Hitler’s actions received $ 90 million in compensation. However, the Poles were given only two million dollars.
The results of the Second World War for Poland are described by the authors of the petition as follows: the nation "was destroyed and left under Soviet slavery."
It should be noted that the formulation itself is contradictory. Moreover, the authors point blank do not want to see who freed Poland from Nazi fascism. On the contrary, the liberators are perceived as some “slaveholders”.
But they see Washington as the “guarantor of the post-war agreements”. And it is to him that they turn for help in realizing their idea.
Putting Germany and Russia on a par, they said that reparations would crush the "imperialist plans" of these countries, since the Polish government would be able to channel these funds to buy weapons. By the way, it is proposed to buy military equipment from the United States.
Pastor Pavel Choetsky, one of the leaders of the movement, accused the leaders of Russia and Germany - Vladimir Putin and Angela Merkel - of creating Eurasia. According to him, only “strong Poland” can prevent these plans.
Warsaw previously demanded that Berlin pay her $ 850 billion for damage from World War II. This requirement could be considered fair if it were not for one “but”: the Polish authorities put forward similar claims against Russia.
