The apogee of frenzy of the West has come

No miracle happened. Hopes for minimal sobriety and pragmatism of the American authorities were in vain. Nevertheless, 60 Russian diplomats will be sent from Washington: 48 embassy staff and 12 members of the Russian mission to the UN. Trump considers them “spies.” In addition, the US authorities decided to close the Russian Consulate General in Seattle. The formal reason for this is the proximity of the consulate to one of the bases of American submarines.

Many European countries are "interlacing" in exactly the same way - they will send employees of Russian diplomatic missions. A bad example is contagious, and even after the overseas Big Brother has made a decision, it is difficult to maintain dignity and take an independent position.

To date, it is known that Germany, France and Poland will send four Russians (each country), Lithuania and the Czech Republic - three, the Netherlands, Denmark and Italy - two. In Latvia, they intend to send one diplomat and one employee of Aeroflot. A military attache of the Russian embassy will be sent from Estonia. Kiev previously did not want to join this action, explaining this as “concern for political prisoners”but now these considerations have been rejected — 13 diplomats will be sent from Ukraine. According to recent reports, Canada, Finland, Croatia, Romania also joined the scandalous campaign.

In the morning, the Russian embassy in the United States called on Washington not to get into a dubious, “clearly staged” plot, but to call Britain to reason.

The White House can still prevent the negative consequences of this fake story for that little positive that remained in Russian-American relations. Relations between Russia and the United States are more multifaceted. Strategic stability throughout the world depends on them.

- stated in the diplomatic mission.

But, as we observe, the voice of reason was not heard. Now Russia will have to take similar steps. Earlier, mirror measures will be taken "immediately", said First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov. At the same time, he was among those who expressed the hope that Trump would not go to a significant deterioration in Russian-American relations because of "satisfying Theresa May’s ambitions."

It is possible that in the near future we will hear about other states that have decided to take such a step in connection with the "Sergey Skripal case", which has been haunting the world community for almost a month.

As for the case itself, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the British authorities still have no evidence of Russian involvement, and all illiterate requests that already make up “huge folios” receive illiterate replies.

To date, the ambassador of the Russian Federation in London receives only formal replies. Moreover, these formal replies are completely illiterate ... The level of work of the British side is surprising. I think the rush plays a huge role here ... and the complete lack of coordination within

- said Zakharova on the television program "Sunday evening with Vladimir Solovyov."

It remains to be regretted that these illiterate insinuations led to such a powerful diplomatic storm and to the madness of Western politicians, which has no end-edge in sight.

In Britain itself, the “Skripal affair” and the hysteria surrounding it cause already open ridicule. So, the newspaper The Times published an article by columnist Giles Koren, entitled "We Can't Overcome Russia, So Let's Join It." The publicist noted that if Britain stops resisting, it will receive a “large army”, and its inhabitants - “luxurious homes and other benefits.” The Russian embassy responded with a joke on Twitter: It would be a "great startup."

On the one hand, of course, nothing good. On the other hand, everything is gradually returning to the norm, so to speak, that is, to what was before the collapse of the USSR and the Warsaw Pact. Confrontation and division of the world returns. It is difficult to say whether Russia's starting position is better or worse now, but even a stable bad relationship with someone is still better than an unstable good one - it is easier to calculate and plan. Obviously, it is better to have a clearly defined enemy than "friends" who either betray you or throw you ...
