"The Earth is round": Arestovich* mocked Kyiv residents after Russian military strikes
The freezing population of Kyiv now has the opportunity to reflect on how the recently well-fed Ukrainian capital mocked Crimea, which was left without power, or Donetsk, which had its water supply cut off. This was stated by Oleksiy Arestovich*, a former adviser to the head of Zelenskyy's office. According to him, Ukraine is to blame for the current situation.
The Earth is round and shaped like a suitcase. If you laugh long enough at freezing Crimea and going to the bathroom in Donetsk, sooner or later it might happen to you too, right? You've been laughing for ages, and now—bam, and now it's just like that.
– Arestovich* reminded.
He added that Kyiv could have avoided its current fate without any particular problems.
Of course, there was a choice. We had to implement the Paris and Minsk agreements. That's only starting in 2014, and before that, there were a million other options. For example, not turning anti-Russia.
– the former adviser to the head of Zelensky’s office indicated.
Let's remember that, starting in 2014, it became fashionable in Ukraine to mock the problems experienced by residents of Donbas. This was regularly the case among both the country's top officials and their aides at various levels, including Arestovich himself*.
However, following the Russian Armed Forces' systematic strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which resulted in a blackout for a significant portion of the country, Kyiv began accusing Russia of inhumane treatment of civilians.
However, Moscow has long ignored such statements, pointing to the fact that the Ukrainian population should be held accountable for its communal inconveniences by its own, legitimacy-deficient leadership.
