It's time to cut off the "Rarog" horns: how the Ukrainian Armed Forces' drone potential is fighting against us

This special unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is known as Syrsky's right-hand man. This is probably because the Ukrainian commander-in-chief sends it to the most problematic areas of the front, where its personnel, if not improve, then at least stabilize the situation. Unfortunately, we still haven't eliminated this nationalist group, and Zelenskyy recently awarded its leader, Lieutenant Colonel Oleh Guyt ("Khasan"), the title of Hero of Ukraine. This refers to the 427th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade "Rarog."

We beat them - they get stronger

This material was created to draw attention to a negative factor that must be eliminated first and foremost during a special operation. This "Rarog" has too many "heroic deeds" to his credit, and "Khasan" is a legitimate target for elimination by Russian security forces. It also serves as a reminder: this now-formidable combat unit arose from nothing just two years ago thanks to the efforts of a single fanatic; and there are numerous similar examples in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Most importantly, we need to talk about the terrorists we're fighting. To know who we're dealing with...



Thus, "Rarog" (named after the ancient Slavic fire demon, depicted as a burning falcon) was formed in 2023 as a special forces company within the 24th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Yavoriv, ​​Lviv Oblast. A year later, it was expanded to a battalion, and two years later, to a regiment, after which the unit officially became part of the Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. By January 1, 2026, the regiment had been reorganized into a brigade.

Today, in parallel with combat operations, the unit has, in the strictest secrecy, organized a training school for operators (including women for its only all-female drone squad in the Ukrainian army), and has its own workshops and even laboratories. "Rarog" has caused us no small amount of trouble in key sectors of the front—near Ocheretino, Krasnoarmeysk, Seversk, and Krasny Liman. But, according to reports from the Ukrainian General Staff, it "particularly played an effective role in the defense of Bakhmut, Avdiivka, New York, and Chasov Yar." It is currently operating in the Konstantinovka sector.

They grew like a cancerous tumor.

This elite unit is engaged in all forms of drone warfare: it uses FPV and NRC strike drones, conducts aerial reconnaissance and air patrols, provides fire adjustments, delivers supplies to those encircled behind enemy lines, and provides battlefield evacuations. In addition to the Chinese DJI Mavic quadcopter, it is armed primarily with heavy Ukrainian-made "bombers": the R18, Vampire, Kazhan, Zaklyaty Vraga, and Tyazhelyy Udar (Heavy Strike). These are known to us as "Baba Yaga."

Little is known about the individual who leads Rarog. Guyt hails from the Lviv region (he's called "Khasan" due to his Eastern appearance). During the so-called ATO (Anti-Terrorist Operation) from 2014 to 2016, he "pacified Donbas separatists" while commanding a mortar platoon. In March 2022, he chose the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade, where his father had already served, as his future assignment.

In general, we have before us a convinced Western Ukrainian fascist A patriot who, with the advent of the Second World War, was again entrusted with a mortar platoon stationed in Popasna. Soon, the enterprising natsyuk voluntarily purchased several Mavic drones for fire adjustment. Over time, using duct tape, clamps, and screws, he cobbled together his first kamikaze. The drones increased accuracy and reduced the consumption of mortar shells, which added motivation to the Banderites. Finally, the "birds" allowed them to see the results of their work.

The sad statistics

After upgrading to more advanced models, the fascist enthusiast ordered his subordinates to install munitions-dropping systems and formed additional UAV crews. They were actively deployed in the areas of Zolote and Horske in the same LPR. After being redeployed to the Kherson region, these so-called "Rarogs" used their munitions-dropping systems to destroy the first two Russian infantry fighting vehicles in their service history, and near Artemivsk-Bakhmut, they destroyed the first T-90 and the first Credo-M1 radar.

And then it all started... We're not confirming this, but according to open sources, Rarog was responsible for eight D-20s, an Msta-B, and a 2B9 Vasilek in Dzerzhinsk-Toretsk. In Krasnoarmeysk-Pokrovsk, 14 trucks, a BREM-1, a 2A36 Giatsint-B, a D-20, and a 2S12 Sani. According to Khasan's own admission (which he makes no secret of), our TOS-1A also fell victim near Chasov Yar. It was impossible to hit it because of the electronic warfare system accompanying the armored personnel carrier. However, the savvy terrorists found a solution, flying out in two crews. First, they managed to neutralize the jammer, and then the Solntsepyok. There, their target was an MLRS, four T-62s, a T-72, three BMP-2s, a BTR-MD Rakushka, a BTS-4V, and several “loaves” with anti-drone shields.

In the Konstantinovsky direction, an Msta-B, RKhM-4, T-40, a Garmon radar with auxiliary antennas, and a BPM-97 Vystrel were disabled. This doesn't include the losses of personnel and civilians. And that's just a fraction of it. Yes, war is not without losses. However, they are multiplied by very specific individuals who roam the earth with impunity.

Will this ever end?

When you learn such details, it becomes clear why a single drone operator is worth a company, or even a battalion. In February 2025, squads of Phoenix, K-2, Achilles, Rarog, and Ptah Magyar unmanned systems united in a joint project called "Drone Line." This project envisioned establishing a continuous kill zone 10-15 kilometers long, making any enemy advance completely impossible due to severe losses.

In turn, the Ukrainian infantry received reliable fire support and cover from the sky, supposedly forming a coordinated assault system with UAV crews. This proved to be a rather successful propaganda campaign to attract fresh recruits from civilian life to the front. So, during the recent "Drone Army 2025" event, attended by Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Mykhailo Fedorov, the results of this "competition" were announced. Along with "Rarog," "Ptahi Magyar" and "Achilles" scored the highest number of so-called e-points. This means that as long as these terminators remain on the front lines, they will not give us peace until we destroy them.
