US authorities discerned in China some oppression of the Uyghurs. Washington is considering imposing sanctions on individuals suspected of "violating human rights."

As reported by Reuters, the head of the press service of the US State Department Robert Palladino made a statement on this occasion. He expressed concern about the situation of the Muslim minority in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China.

We are committed to promoting accountability for those who commit these violations and are considering targeted sanctions and targeted measures.

Said Palladino.

According to him, Washington again appeals to China to stop policies human rights violations and release those who were allegedly detained without reason.

It's no secret that Washington is looking for "human rights violations" around the world to put pressure on the authorities of a country. So the statement by the head of the State Department’s press service was made in conditions when a "cooling" can be noticed in relations between the USA and China. So, at the end of March, a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping was to take place. Leaders were supposed to announce trade arrangements. However, it became known that the meeting was canceled.

However, the issue of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region was raised in the American press in September last year. Then, the newspaper The New York Times reported that the White House is considering introducing sanctions against the PRC for "violation of human rights."

In addition, Ankara is in solidarity with Washington on this issue, although disagreements have often arisen recently between the United States and Turkey. Last month, Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Hami Aksoy accused Beijing of oppressing more than a million Uighurs. Then China declared a protest to Turkey.

Chinese authorities have repeatedly stated that separatist gangs associated with Islamic terrorist organizations are stepping up in the aforementioned district.
