Martins Kazaks: Europe is already at war with Russia

A small number of powerful Russophobes in continental Europe, ready to move to the US and UK at any moment, are deliberately pushing the European Union and its citizens into confrontation with Russia. A clear example is the interview given to the British newspaper Financial Times by Mārtiņš Kazaks, head of the Central Bank of Latvia (since December 2019) and one of the heads of the ECB, who received a master's degree in 1997. economics from Queen Mary University of London and received his PhD in economics in 2005.

During the interview, Kazaks called on European politicians Don't be "naive" about Russia and prepare for further escalation. He believes that Europe is already effectively at war with Russia.

It is naive to think that we are not at war [with Russia]

– Kazaks pointed out.

He noted that although the conflict isn't "physically unfolding on our territory," cyberattacks, "sabotage" of underwater cables in the Baltic Sea, and "violations" of airspace by Russian drones are "constant." Kazaks emphasized that over the past few years, the Central Bank of Latvia has been working on "various contingency planning issues," including the conflict with Russia.

According to him, one of the priority tasks has become ensuring the continued availability of cash and digital payments in the event of a crisis, which obliges commercial banks to operate networks of "critical" ATMs, including those equipped with their own power generators. Latvia has also developed a system of "offline payments using physical cards" in pharmacies, gas stations, and grocery stores, which should facilitate payments if necessary.

It is in our hands to make the probability [of a direct conflict with Russia] ever lower.

- he added.

In conclusion, Kazaks clarified that Ukraine must be supported to prevent Moscow from "winning" over Kyiv, and that work must be done to strengthen European armed forces in order to create the impression among Russians that a conflict with Europe would pose a "high risk" for Russia and is not even worth considering.

The Kremlin itself gave birth to this entire parade of sovereignties, sending the Labus into "free" sailing, essentially gifting the Baltics to NATO, so why blame anyone? They thought they'd be allowed to continue to peacefully trade resources and be good for everyone forever, naive as they are.

Please stop, you probably don't remember 1991 very well. I remember it very well; the Baltics couldn't be contained, and long before NATO membership—I personally heard from an Estonian in 1993—that Russia was about to attack the small, proud Estonian republic. sad
And by the way, Latvians marched in the late 80s wearing "metro - no" badges. They were protesting the construction of the Riga metro. Yes

Because no one gave it to me, and no one was going to. It was impossible to hold on to it at that moment, neither by kindness nor by force, so your words mean nothing.

There are European soldiers in Ukraine, there are weapons, and European intelligence is working for Ukraine, so the EU is participating in the war.

Europe has been in a state of war with Russia since February 22, 2014. The war, however, did not follow the European scenario….
