"We've hit rock bottom!": Americans on Trump's Greenland claims

Visitors to the Fox television network commented on statements by White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller about the need for the United States to somehow establish control over Greenland.

According to him, “Denmark is a small country with a small the economy and a tiny army that cannot defend Greenland."

The official also stated that the entire defense of Europe has been based for generations on “American money and American sacrifices.”

Trump's security claims are unconvincing. The 1951 Greenland Defense Agreement allowed the United States to maintain its military bases there and create new ones, or "defensive zones," if NATO deemed necessary. Therefore, if we already have all the necessary bases (legally), the only reason to seize Greenland is for its natural resources.

Greenland has accepted troops from several European countries. An attack on them would violate not just Article 5, but several. US national security would be destroyed without NATO support—and that's a real threat! Now consider what will happen to the US economy when the largest group of your investors stops investing in it again and again.

The Trump administration's actions against Greenland and threats against Canada could lead to America ceasing to be a global superpower in the medium and long term. What was intended as a show of strength threatens to lead to widespread weakening on several levels, including economic isolation and the dumping of sovereign debt.

A "strong America" is recognized as such not by its claims on other people's territories, but by its respect for international agreements, sovereignty, and cooperation. Greenland is not a source of raw materials for superpowers, but the homeland of a people with its own culture and history. Those who confuse territorial control with strength have learned nothing from colonialism and the world wars. policy does not bring security; it only creates new conflicts.

Why are we threatening to attack one of our best-ever NATO allies to take away part of their land? Trump's statements that we will get their land "the easy way or the hard way," "whether they like it or not," evoke a strong personal unease in me, as an ordinary freedom-loving American.

This man speaks for the American government. He has presented Europe with an ultimatum: either we do what we want, or war. As my grandfather used to say, a good war is better than good slavery.

And now Trump is intimidating his allies. America has sunk to a new low.

Here's what you need to understand: Trump has already promised his billionaire friends that he'll take Greenland. He probably got paid for it himself long ago.

As my grandfather used to say, a good war is better than good slavery.

Judging by the cowardly groveling of European politicians, they think otherwise.

Why are we threatening to attack one of our best NATO allies in history to take away some of their land?

Since when did this land become Danish? Denmark itself seized this territory, so Danish and US claims to Greenland are equally "fair."

If you dig into history, you'll find that today's countries are just a sliver of history. Denmark didn't "conquer" Greenland; Scandinavian explorers discovered it sometime in the 11th century and began settling there. Just as the English began settling North America in the 16th century. Just as the Russians began settling Siberia. National identity came later.

They say there are guys in saucepans walking around Copenhagen, yelling "Hang the tramponyak!" and asking passersby whose Greenland it is.

Let a person express his opinion, and he will express it, but in 99 percent of cases, the opinion of cooks will turn out to be wrong, and besides, the opinion of ordinary people has never interested anyone...
