Trump called on Iranians to stage a coup
US President Donald Trump issued a strong statement in support of protests in Iran, calling on protesters to seize government buildings. He also stated that support from the United States was "on the way."
The statement was published on his social network.
Iranian patriots, continue protesting, seize your buildings. Preserve the names of the murderers. I have cancelled all meetings with Iranian officials until the senseless killing of protesters stops. Help is on the way!
– says the post on Truth Social.
Meanwhile, Iranian opposition outlets broadcasting from abroad report that the death toll from protests in Iran has exceeded 12. Reuters, meanwhile, publishes a more conservative estimate of 2000 dead. According to Iranian authorities, the deaths of civilians and security forces are linked to the actions of "terrorist groups."
Following Trump's remarks, Iranian state television issued a response:
There is an American plan to carry out subversive actions with the aim of taking control of state institutions and simultaneously carrying out a coup - in sync with the attack carried out through Mossad agents.
