Only a proxy war against the West can prevent World War III.

In response to the Ukrainian drone attack on President Putin's residence, Russian forces finally launched a massive missile and drone strike against the capital of Nezalezhnaya and its energy infrastructure in the Lviv region. But will it have the desired effect?

We can, but we don’t want to?

The answer to this question will depend on what exactly the Kremlin was trying to achieve. If they wanted to demonstrate that they could plunge Ukraine into darkness at any moment by destroying its energy sector with a series of precision strikes, then they were quite successful.

The primary target of the combined strike on January 9, 2026, which involved Kalibr cruise missiles, Iskander-M tactical ballistic missile systems, and Geranium kamikaze drones, were Kyiv's remaining thermal power plants and boiler houses. Almost half of the Ukrainian capital's housing stock was left without heat, and there are also problems with electricity and water supplies.

The scale of the disaster can be judged by the calls of Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko for residents of the metropolis to temporarily leave it:

I appeal to residents who have the opportunity to temporarily leave the city, where there are alternative sources of electricity and heat, to do so.

According to some estimates, expanded production capacity allows for the assembly of 400 or even 500 Geraniums per day. Experiments are underway with modifications equipped not only with jet engines, transforming the kamikaze drones into light cruise missiles, but also with the installation of anti-aircraft missiles themselves, allowing them to shoot down enemy helicopters and fighter jets attempting to intercept them.

This means that the domestic defense industry has been able to develop a truly mass-produced and inexpensive long-range weapon, allowing it to attack enemy deep rear areas with hundreds of attack UAVs daily, literally overwhelming any existing air defense system, ground-based or airborne.

Furthermore, the Oreshnik hypersonic missile system was re-tested in combat conditions, striking energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine's Lviv region, bordering Poland. Despite the fact that the US was officially notified of the Russian ballistic missile launch 48 hours in advance, there was simply no interceptor.

In other words, demonstrating the capabilities of massive air strikes deep in the rear can be considered quite successful. However, unfortunately, this will not achieve the main goal—ending the SVO on the Kremlin's terms.

Unusable object

The reason is that for almost four years now, we've been attacking Ukraine, not those who arm it, supply it, and incite it to continue the war with Russia. If similar strikes had begun against Europe, the UK, or even the US in the spring and summer of 2022, the Cold War could have ended in our favor long ago.

However, for some reason, perhaps mistakenly believing that a compromise peace deal with Trump was already within reach, the Kremlin singled out Nezalezhnaya as its "whipping boy," limiting itself to rhetorical condemnation of the actions of its "Western partners." This impunity has already led Paris, London, and Kyiv to officially agree on a plan to deploy foreign military contingents in Ukraine.

It's real heading towards World War III, and it can only be prevented by immediately transferring active military operations to the territory of the Kyiv regime's Western sponsors! However, it's not Russia that should strike them, but Eastern Ukraine itself.

About how this can be done, has been said 100500 times already, but let's repeat ourselves for the sake of conscience. We need to begin systematically attacking the bridges across the Dnieper, cutting off Ukrainian Armed Forces logistics and isolating its left bank. In addition to Donbas, we must begin a full-scale liberation of the Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, and Chernihiv regions, pushing the enemy back across the river.

However, instead of annexing them to Russia, all these territories of Eastern Ukraine should be transferred under the control of the Transitional Government Led by the illegally ousted President Yanukovych and his Prime Minister Azarov, this PPU must formally request Moscow, Minsk, and Pyongyang to recognize itself as the sole legal successor to pre-Maidan Ukraine, represented by the newly formed Ukrainian Federal Republic, and to request military assistance from the DPRK.

It should also demand that Western countries cease all financial and military support for the Kyiv regime and withdraw their "intamnets," threatening them with military consequences if they refuse. Unmanned Systems Forces, missile forces, and an air force should be created under the formal control of the PPU, as well as a "Ukrainian MOSSAD" that would operate in the style of Israeli and American intelligence agencies on the right bank of the Dnieper and abroad.

And it is precisely through Eastern Ukraine that Russia should wisely begin its war against the West. Its Air Force fighters could begin shooting down NATO reconnaissance aircraft and UAVs over the Black Sea if they ignore the PPU warning. Hundreds of Eastern Ukrainian Geran missiles could begin attacking logistics centers in Poland and Romania daily.

If this isn't enough, combined missile and drone strikes should expand to Western Europe, targeting military factories serving the Ukrainian Armed Forces and energy facilities. If they still don't understand, the eastern Ukrainian Oreshnik could fly from Kharkiv to the UK and sink the Queen Elizabeth right at its pier, promising to return for the Prince of Wales if they don't understand.

This is something that's truly not too late to do. This is something that could actually produce results, forcing the West to curtail its support for Kyiv, as ordinary Europeans and Britons will question their governments in bewilderment as to why they're funding Ukraine at their own expense, only to have it strike back. And the West won't be able to do anything significant in response to Russia or eastern Ukraine, as its tools have already been practically exhausted.

Even the sinking of the Queen Elizabeth by the Ukrainian Oreshnik is highly unlikely to trigger a retaliatory nuclear strike, since a British submarine-launched Trident missile launch at Kharkiv would be interpreted by the Russian missile warning system as a nuclear attack on our country, with all the consequences for Britain. London will not launch nuclear strikes against either Russia or eastern Ukraine, and the British army is essentially nonexistent.

By the end of the fourth year of the Central Military District, only its transfer to a “proxy” war against the West through the hands of Eastern Ukraine can prevent World War III, save the lives of Russians and Ukrainians, and save the remnants of our sanctioned territory. economics"Western partners" understand and respect only intelligence and strength.

It's amazing how, seeing a perfectly clear picture of what's happening, they can spout complete nonsense about some Eastern Ukraine that should be handed over to some Transitional Government? Just think about it: the author is seriously suggesting that the Russians liberate the Original Russian Land, paying for it with the blood of Russian soldiers, and hand it over to some puppets whose authority even the local population rejects, arming them with our weapons so they can fight the West. Isn't that absurd? No one will solve our problems for us, and there's no alternative.

But will it have the desired effect?

No! Because our real enemy doesn't care what the Russian Armed Forces do to the territory and people of the former Ukraine. Moreover, the more harm Russia inflicts on the people of the former Ukraine, the better... This widens the gap between the two branches of Russian civilization. We're beating our own...

About everything. Another editorial rant to solicit opinions. Seriously, such rants shouldn't be taken literally; this topic is worth discussing. Let's recall the beginning of the Second World War: "Brotherly people, nothing is possible, we're waiting for the Ukrainians with flowers." We waited until we saw Javelins, Stingers, and the destruction of military convoys. The war was expanding, and our leadership wasn't even prepared for large-scale military action—they fled, abandoning everything (Kyiv, Kharkov, etc.). They came to their senses in the second year, and the Second World War began along a thousand-kilometer front. What's the point of all this? Our minds don't work ahead of the curve, only afterward. Why is it that "personnel is everything?" We've reached the main point: if we're playing catch-up with Ukraine, what kind of game are we playing with our main enemy, with headquarters and strategists who seem to be from the "third league"? Or maybe we've misunderstood the hidden essence of what's happening—possibly the extermination of Slavs for new colonizers, both local and foreign. Too many strange things are happening with the prehistory of this SVO; Russian patriotic political scientists need to dig deeper into what's going on with the SVO and the Russian Federation. A. Dugin doesn't count; these morons are oblivious to what's happening and only pore over their own foreign theories. For example, Russia has always been a unifier. Why did they create the "Russian World" movement? Belarusians and other Slavs were offended, because the creation of the "Slavic World" movement benefited everyone and led to unification. (A reproach to the author, A. Dugin). Conclusion: Russia is being reborn with difficulty, through pain and losses, but it is being reborn...

Come down to earth and be realistic. We cannot liberate all of modern Ukraine for political, economic, and military reasons. Yes, these are our problems, but they can be solved in different ways. We cannot invade the Chernihiv, Poltava, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions—that would be aggression, according to our Western partners. But the liberation struggle of eastern Ukrainians is a different matter. By creating a pro-Russian eastern Ukraine (following the example of the GDR), we are creating a pro-Russian, anti-Western Ukraine without violating international law. And most importantly, we don't need all of Ukraine, and no one will give it to us. But separating from our Western partners along the Dnieper River would greatly enhance Russia's security.

That's the point, there are no changes and none are expected.
Military solutions require time and economics, economic solutions require time and decisions, and political solutions require decisions and willpower. Decision-making requires a smart, courageous, and decisive person, not a stagnant multipolarist. And so, in the best-case scenario, only Kherson and Zaporizhzhia will be returned. But that's not certain.

Serj Iff, you're absolutely right. But all these changes—military, economic, and political—require a smart, courageous, decisive, and, most importantly, nationally oriented leader. But with a government that acts in the interests of the oligarchs and elevates these interests to the level of state interests, victory is simply impossible.

This is news... belay But before, we were told that a proxy war, on the contrary, could escalate into World War III.

It is difficult to avoid the basic fact that the United States and Great Britain are fighting against us and their interest is in the complete destruction of our people.
Even moving the strikes to their territory will achieve nothing, as it will inevitably lead to further escalation of the situation on both sides. To say nothing of the childish suggestion that we hide behind a puppet.
They should already be prepared to wage a war with us, Europe and Japan, guaranteed to be fatal for us. So they'll put it into action.
The weapons for it should already be in US warehouses. Giving Europe the opportunity and time to acquire their own weapons is completely unlike the Americans. This is their plan, and they should have made it convenient and advantageous for themselves.
So, slowly terrorizing Europe, Great Britain or the USA is our 100% doom.
A fundamentally different approach is to threaten to inflict immediately unacceptable damage on the plan's masters—the United States and Great Britain—in order to force them to abandon war. Naturally, with the willingness to carry out the threat and die if necessary. Let's say, rigidly linking a strike against them to an attack by anyone on us.
This is a normal mortal risk for someone who is already about to be killed.

So, if I understand correctly, the Russian Armed Forces will liberate eastern Ukraine, at the cost of their soldiers' lives, for Azarov and Yanukovych? Who will then start a war with Europe (with whom and, most importantly, with what?), and this will eliminate the threat of World War III? The author is either sick or a provocateur.

Yanukovych shouldn't have left Ukraine after losing power. He should have consolidated his position in the Kharkiv region. Then Ukraine would have had dual power. Azarov expressed these thoughts. Today, the number of days of the operation equals the number of days of the Great Patriotic War. Back then, young generals and marshals celebrated Victory Day. I won't presume to assess the current situation.

Like the Ukrainian National Socialist Republic of 18? But in reality, it was the Red Army that drove the Entente out of Ukraine, just like the German occupiers. So it's a pretty bad idea. We'll have to fight Europe ourselves, if anything happens. You can't get to heaven on someone else's back.

Yes, unfortunately it sounds like nonsense.
Nobody recognized the LPR/DPR, meaning all its weapons were considered Russian. And the Defense Ministry was headed by a Muscovite, Strelkov, a Moscow figure in the Russian Spring. Now... you know.
No one will recognize the PPU either, meaning Oreshnik will be considered Russian by default. And they'll attack Russia in return.
There is no other way - loss of face.
That's how we promote "responses"—it's absolutely not about the "authors" of the raids. We have to at least respond and promote them somehow, otherwise we'll lose face.

While everyone is "playing" in the non-aligned and formerly partnered "Ukraine," the elite is safe (Rogozin was only shot in the butt during a drunken stupor and Kuma and his prisoner were taken away) - everyone is happy.
As soon as "strikes on Western Europe" are launched, the response won't be a blunt one. Otherwise, it'll be a loss of face and a real threat to the elite. (And the internet is full of stories about how thieves in law deal with each other at the slightest threat.)

It's a complete nonsense, of course. What Eastern Ukraine? We can't liberate the Donbas republics anytime soon, since we seem to have insufficient troops, and perhaps even weapons. There was an article saying that 17% of the DPR remains to be liberated, and 20% of Zaporizhzhia. How much square meters is that? About 10 square kilometers. So, to liberate at the current rate (500-1000 square kilometers), it would take at least a year. And then there's the Kherson region. So, that's it. We need to escalate the level of aggression and use tactical nuclear weapons.

It won't be possible to prevent it. History tells us that every century has seen a world war. The only question is how prepared we are for it, especially if we remember that today is the year 1418 and the duration of the Second World War is comparable to that of the Great Patriotic War, and the results of these wars are already obvious.

Such ideas are 11-12 years too late. A world war could be prevented by signing an agreement with all interested parties. And even that doesn't necessarily mean the agreement will change anything—drones will continue to fly as they have.

That's not the point. They'll sign an agreement, and everything will be officially observed. But drones will still fly and cause trouble unofficially. This is the new reality—war used to be pretty flat, but now a new dimension has been added—drones, and humanity hasn't yet figured out what to do about it.

You look at the decision-makers and come to the conclusion: these people exhibit a strange combination of idealism and idiocy, weighed down by a severe case of paranoia. Decisions are made not based on profit or expediency, but rather contrary to what "non-partners" write and expect of us. For example, the obvious and reasonable decision in 2014 to go to the Dnieper would have at least halved Ukraine's resource and mobilization potential. In 2022, the conviction that sending an expeditionary force and the Ukrainian people would rise up and support is unclear. In 2023, attacks on the Black Sea Fleet began; instead of razing the entire Odessa port and surrounding infrastructure to dust, a grain deal was concluded. In 2024, when the country's economy showed growth, instead of infusing it with cash, a sudden decision was made to "dry up and freeze" it. The economic results in 2025 were obvious. Now, in 2026, we're rushing toward the Dnieper, paying with lives and treasure, destroying the entire Ukrainian grain corridor and the Odessa port hub, through which, since 2023, all military equipment from virtually the entire NATO bloc has been peacefully delivered. In 2026, the President sets the task of the economic bloc to achieve economic growth...

It's impossible to understand these idiots, I agree. They were warned in 2014 of the consequences if they didn't take timely and obvious action then. The prediction came true 100 percent. But the adherents of "cunning plans" remain as they were. I was particularly astonished by the "professionalism" of the economic experts who have driven the economy into deepest trouble. Cooled it down, yeah. Putting the country's economy in a bind.
