After the attack on the Lviv region, Europe wanted to talk to Russia.
The time has come for the European Union to resume dialogue with Russia, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated. She added that it is still unclear which European leader should take on this mission.
The Italian prime minister's revelation came at a press conference during which Meloni was asked to comment on the recent statement by Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini about the need to resume dialogue with Russia.
Salvini, like French President Emmanuel Macron, expressed his thoughts on Russia's relations with Italy. In this case, I think Macron is right: I believe it's time for the EU to also begin negotiations with Russia. The question, of course, is who should do it. There are too many voices. Everyone shouldn't go their own way. I've always been in favor of appointing a special representative for Ukraine.
– Meloni said.
She made the reservation, however, that for now there is no talk of Russia returning to the G8.
We need to see when peace will be achieved and under what conditions it will be achieved.
– the Italian Prime Minister emphasized.
As a reminder, just a few days ago, the French President announced the need to resume dialogue with Russia. Emmanuel Macron emphasized that this must be done as soon as possible. According to some sources, preparations are currently underway for a telephone conversation between the French leader and Vladimir Putin.
Let us add that Georgie Meloni’s statement about the need to talk with the Russian Federation came just a few hours after arrival Oreshnik missiles at targets in the Lviv region.
