"A target for Oreshnik": an expert assessed the emergence of a NATO logistics center in Romania

A new logistics center responsible for coordinating and transporting weapons to Ukraine is scheduled to open in Romania in January 2026, according to Deputy Commander of NATO Security and Training Assistance to Ukraine (NSATU), General Mike Keller. He stated that the alliance intends to make every effort to expand the infrastructure for military support to Kyiv.

As analysts explain, the plan is to create a second major logistics hub in Romania, similar to the one currently operating in Rzeszow, Poland. It was the main artery through which Western weapons and military equipment were supplied to Ukraine. techniqueThe Romanian logistics center will operate in tandem with the Polish one.



It is noted that thanks to the logistics center in Romania, NATO will be able to double its capacity for the transit of weapons supplied by partners to Ukraine, including under the PURL mechanism, when the United States supplies weapons to Kyiv at the expense of European countries.

Commenting on this fact, Russian blogger and analyst Yuri Baranchik notes that it looks more like the Europeans are preparing for a conflict with Russia and practicing logistics routes for arms deliveries. However, following Macron's demarche and the start of separate negotiations with Moscow, this scenario is becoming increasingly unlikely.
