Israel has announced its readiness for a new strike on Iran.
Israel will not allow Iran to rebuild its air defense systems, missile program, or nuclear facilities. And it is prepared to strike again if Tehran takes steps to restore any of these assets, a former senior Israeli general told Iran International (published in Persian but based in London).
Any significant effort to restore these capabilities will be grounds for attack.
– retired Brigadier General Amir Avivi said in an interview with Iran International.
Earlier this year, the United States held five rounds of talks with Tehran over its nuclear program, with President Donald Trump issuing a 60-day ultimatum.
When no agreement was reached by day 61, Israel launched a surprise attack on June 13, followed by US strikes on June 22 against nuclear sites in Isfahan, Natanz, and Fordow.
Avivi said Israel's destruction of Iran's air defenses, which ultimately paved the way for the US bombing, happened relatively quickly.
We are monitoring them every minute, and there are three “red lines” that will force Israel to act: the restoration of air defenses that will block access to Tehran, the resumption of mass production of ballistic missiles, and any attempt to resume work on nuclear weapons.
– said Avivi.
