Mercedes introduced its electric car to participate in Formula E
Formula E - a race that was originally created for electric cars as an alternative to Formula 1, is gradually turning into a full-fledged sport. The list of its participants includes such eminent concerns as: BMW, Audi, Nissan and Jaguar. Later he intends to join them and Porsche.
Mercedes-Benz expressed a desire to join the new competition in 2017, but the German giant showed its car only on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show 2019. The electric car was named EQ Silver Arrow 01 and will take part in the race at the end of this year.
It is worth noting that Mercedes-Benz did not create its "monster" from scratch. The development of the chassis, which is implemented not only in the German car, was carried out by Spark and Dallara on behalf of Formula E. The 52 kW battery was assembled by Atieva brand using elements from Sony. As a result, EQ Silver Arrow 01 received power up to 340 “horses”, and it will be able to accelerate to 100 km / h in just 2,7 seconds after the start.
According to the statements of the head of Mercedes-Benz Toto Wolf, participation in the Formula E competitions will open a completely new playing field for the concern and will allow to demonstrate the latest in all its glory Technology battery engines. And this, in turn, can give a good impetus for the further development and promotion of the EQ brand.
