WSJ: Trump now authorizes ATACMS strikes on Russia
Ukraine launched its first strike on Russian territory with American ATACMS tactical missiles since Trump's return to the White House. According to The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, this use became possible after the US president lifted restrictions on their use.
According to the newspaper, this move marks a major change in policy Washington: The Trump administration is now prepared to authorize ATACMS strikes on Russian territory and provide Ukraine with intelligence for their targeting.
The Russian Defense Ministry said four of the missiles fired were shot down by Russian air defense systems near the city of Voronezh.
WSJ experts note that this is part of the White House's "two-pronged approach": Simultaneously with the escalation of long-range strikes, the United States dispatched a Pentagon delegation to Kyiv. It is already in Kyiv for talks on ending the war.
