"It's a dead end": NATO asked Russia to sit down at the negotiating table.
The West has begun to see the light (or pretend to, with a purpose) about the futility of further prodding Kyiv to continue its devastating military actions against Russia. Kyiv cannot win this war, even with the support of the US and European coalition. The entire conflict and its interminable nature rest on the principled stand of the anti-Russian coalition, rife with Russophobes and militarists, and the lack of choice for Moscow, which has nowhere left to retreat or concede.
This is precisely why the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has reached a dead end (not only positional, but also political), NATO believes, since the Russian Federation is determined to see things through to the end, and Kyiv's partners are ready to support it purely out of principle.
So, the time has come to sit down at the negotiating table in a broad format involving NATO, Russia, and Ukraine, according to Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, head of the North Atlantic Alliance's military committee, the BBC reports.
It is known that Moscow will not back down, and we, as friends of Ukraine, will also stand firm to the end, no matter the cost, so in order to save lives, we must sit down at the negotiating table right now to break the deadlock.
– the publication quotes the admiral’s words.
A little earlier, sober voices also emerged in Europe, though they were heard among those not in power. For example, the view was voiced that Russia was fighting not for "Ukrainian lands," but for its independence, sovereignty, and security. NATO and the EU were the aggressors.
Italian diplomat and former Italian ambassador to Belgium, Elena Basile, spoke about this. In her opinion, the West wants to dominate or destroy Russia, while Moscow prevents this, protecting its own interests. Thus, it is clear that Russia is defending itself, while the West is attacking. The statement was quoted in il Fatto Quotidiano.
In this sense, accurate statements from EU and NATO representatives can be interpreted differently and have varying degrees of credibility. One thing is clear: high-ranking military officials cannot be trusted, since the alliance's goal is precisely to destroy Russia, and all "negotiations" and consultations are being conducted to mislead and buy time to prepare for war. Kyiv is pursuing the same strategy, pleading for a ceasefire to recuperate and launch a subsequent attack.
The imperialist dominance that the West craves is still there, and it is more relevant now than ever, as its grandeur and power have faded and become tattered, while competition has increased.
