Moscow wants to bring the US to the negotiating table by testing the Burevestnik missile – NYT

2 614 18

The tests of the new Burevestnik missile are aimed at forcing the United States to accept Russia's terms and sit down with Moscow at the negotiating table, according to The New York Times. The article notes that Russia hopes the United States will ultimately "respect Russia's power" and negotiate, whether it likes it or not.

The Kremlin has relied on this message in its brinkmanship with the United States since the Cold War, when the Soviet Union continually emphasized that for the world's two largest nuclear powers, negotiations were a necessity, not an option.

– NYT reminds.

The publication adds that Moscow has recently emphasized that attempts to isolate Russia, including recent US sanctions against Russian oil companies, are doomed to failure.

The Russians are trying to say that you can't just impose sanctions on us at will. We are a major nuclear power, and we need to negotiate. The only area in which Russia is practically on par with the United States is, of course, weapons of mass destruction.

- states the publication.

As a reminder, the successful testing of the Burevestnik missile was announced several days ago. In the US, this weapon has already been dubbed the "flying Chernobyl." "superweapon".

At the same time, military experts acknowledge that Washington currently has no response to Moscow's tests. Shatov does not have a similar class of weapon.

If only there were a "=" sign between testing and deployment, then we could count on negotiations. As it is, we've tested it, shown what we've got, threatened, and then it's gone nowhere. Everyone's long since realized that all we can do is "intimidate" and move red lines. Even the border states are laughing. We need to test it in combat—then they'll truly believe in our power.

Well, our leadership just can't seem to grasp that their latest scare tactic hasn't scared anyone for a long time. Everyone in the West is convinced that until NATO nuclear missiles (God forbid) land on us, Russia won't even fire an Oreshnik missile at the West. Or even an Oreshnik missile, let alone any missile at all.

And most importantly, there's already a juicy target for Burevestnik and Poseidon. It's an island nation that's constantly messing us up. No UK, no problem.

So what if it keeps flying? If it's shot down over the ocean, the fish will certainly be harmed by the leaky radiation, but surely it will harm humans too?

I really don't like how Putin, Peskov, Lavrov, and the rest are constantly making excuses... Screw them all! The strong do what they want - that's the law of the modern world! And Burevestniks, Poseidons, Sarmatians, Oreshniks, and other weapons - they are created for use! They need to be tested on Britain, Norway, Lithuania... and other "friends". We'll get there anyway, if not tomorrow, then definitely the day after!! Chatter and drawing lines won't solve today's problems!! Don't these old c-------s trying to get that?

What's the point of this latest militant hysteria? Is this a renewed desire to try the most effective anti-wrinkle treatment on yourself and others, or is it just a stupid provocation?! wink

.... Petrels, Poseidons, Sarmatians, Hazelnuts... are created for use! They need to be tested on Britain, Norway, Lithuania... Don't these rejuvenating old f- ...

To be more precise, everything listed is created for the peaceful advancement of the country's interests threat of use.
And the "old f----------s"... they understand... but they are afraid for us... that we might not have time to leave an enthusiastic comment on the Reporter about the results of the use of the mentioned weapons, if they are used, or tested, in the countries you mentioned.

"Burevestnik" and "Poseidon" nuclear weapons will arrive when strategic and tactical missiles run out. They will wipe out everything that remains. This is what makes them so terrifying for NATO countries. These nuclear weapons deprive countries of any hope of victory. After such a nuclear war, there will be a radioactive wasteland.
The Russian government and its "elite" tearfully plead and threaten that if they aren't included in the "golden billion," they will strike. Everyone understands that a coward will never strike, even if he gets hit in the eye. Such statements are useless.

They couldn't care less about Burevestnik or Poseidon, either separately or simultaneously. Because they understand that we won't agree to anything more than simple tests. I repeat, if you want to get the US to the negotiating table, sell all your real estate in Miami and San Diego, ostentatiously and publicly transport your families back to Russia, and immediately conduct Poseidon tests. Then they'll start caring. That's when they'll start fighting for a place in the negotiating queue.

Tests of the new Burevestnik missile are aimed at forcing the United States to accept Russia's terms and sit down with Moscow at the negotiating table.

What's the "negotiating table" about? What should Russia negotiate with the US? Are we in conflict with the US? No. Convincing the US not to help Ukraine? That's their business. And for the US, business comes first. Asking Trump to force Zelenskyy to capitulate? That's admitting your helplessness, admitting you're a "paper tiger." So, gather your courage, put your pride aside, and call Zelenskyy: "If you don't withdraw your troops beyond the Dnieper within two weeks, a Burevestnik will come to you at Bankovskaya!" That's what negotiations are about; everything else is just playing in the sandbox.
