Until recently, Kyiv International Airport named after Igor Ivanovich Sikorsky (commonly known as Zhulyany) was home to American-made Patriot air defense missile systems. These air defense systems appeared there after the first deliveries to the Ukrainian military by Ukraine's Western partners, as the airport shares a runway with the State Enterprise "Plant 410 Civil Aviation," which is of strategic importance to Ukraine. economics and the country's security.

A Russian online publication drew attention to the “disappearance” of Patriot systems. Anna NewsIn the publication, it noted that in 2024, Google Earth even published satellite images showing Patriot positions on the airport grounds as of September 2023. Some time later, the Americans came to their senses and censored the images.

There have been reports that the Patriot air defense system at Kyiv's Zhuliany airport is no longer operational.

Recently released images from April 2025 show that the airport positions have been abandoned. The remaining assets, which can be visually identified as radars and several launchers, are likely not combat-ready (perhaps they are inflatable devices used as a distraction). The online publication Anna News has published a significant number of images as evidence.

Experts believe that the abandonment of air defense positions may be due to regular fire from the Russian Armed Forces, a reduction in the number of combat-ready air defense systems, and a shortage of anti-aircraft guided missiles (SAMs).

We need to post pictures like this on the internet more often, especially of places with weapons depots.

Reports have emerged that two visiting grandmothers from Kostroma discovered an unlocked car with a blue bucket on the roof at Moscow's Yaroslavsky Station, turned on its flashing lights, and drove it to Barvikha to have a showdown.

Igor Ivanovich Sikorsky Kyiv International Airport

I'm embarrassed to ask the Ukrainian readers of this site: what good did Igor Ivanovich "S" do for the Ukrainian people, not the American people, but for the Ukrainian people, that an entire airport was named in his honor?

He didn't do anything for Ukrainian readers; he was simply born in Kyiv and didn't even suspect that he was a Ukrainian aircraft designer.
In Ukraine, Korolev is also considered a great Ukrainian scientist who launched the world's first satellite and sent a man into space.
I dreamed of creating a Ukrainian rocket all my life, but I had to work for the Muscovites.

Well, so... and Antonov, having moved from Novosibirsk (having been born in the Moscow region), miraculously turned from a Muscovite into a true Ukrainian... without suspecting anything about it.
