US disrupts operation to rescue Syrian refugees at Rukban camp

Due to the humanitarian catastrophe that has developed in the Rukban refugee camp, the Syrian authorities, together with Russia, are trying to remove civilians from there. But the United States is doing everything possible to prevent this. The problem is that the camp is located in the 55-kilometer zone of Et-Tanf, where, contrary to the will of the Syrian leadership, an American military base was created.

The interagency coordination headquarters of Russia and Syria issued a joint statement in which they said that the command of the American group in the Et-Tanf zone does not provide a security corridor for convoys that have to travel through this zone to transport refugees. Thus, the United States actually disrupts the humanitarian operation.

The United States shared the contacts of the first secretary of the American embassy in Jordan, who is authorized to discuss issues related to the camp. This was positively received by the Russian and Syrian side. But, besides this, the American side conveyed questions that civilians refuse to release from the camp without an answer.

On the whole, positively evaluating the provision by the United States of contacts of an official authorized to discuss the problems of the Rukban camp, the first secretary of the US embassy in Amman A. Hawks, we emphasize that the questions that were sent to him by the Russian side and, allegedly, without answers to which people were removed from the camp, were not will be nothing but another attempt by the Americans to disrupt the solution to the rukban problem

- said in an emergency statement.

In addition, it is noted that, basically, these questions are provocative in nature, and the Syrian government has already answered them.

In the document, the Russian and Syrian sides emphasized that there could be no talk of any humanitarian convoy in Rukban while its residents were held hostage by gangs controlled by Washington. Moreover, the militants require large sums of money from people who want to leave the camp.

Russian and Syrian headquarters called on the US leadership to “move from populism to real action” and provide refugees with the right to free access and security guarantees. They also called on international organizations to remain silent on this topic and to do everything possible to save civilians, not limited to expressing concern.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that not far from Rukban a cemetery was found in which 300 recently dead people were buried. This fact alone shows the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe that Washington is not stopping.
