Ukraine is witnessing Russia's use of new "KAB" rockets.
Some time ago, the Russian Aerospace Forces began attacking Ukrainian territory with a new modification of long-range guided (corrected) aerial bombs – "KAB rocket bombs." This was reported by the Ukrainian Prosecutor's Office while examining the wreckage.
The agency clarified that the first such munition was detected on the evening of October 18, flying approximately 130 km over the city of Lozovaya in the Kharkiv region. The Ukrainian side believes it could have been either a UMBP-5R rocket or a KAB with a UMPK equipped with a jet engine.
A few days earlier, a similar munition had landed on the outskirts of Mykolaiv in the region of the same name. The distance from the front line there was approximately 60 km, but the bomb actually traveled 120-150 km from the drop point. Thus, the Russians have the ability to strike targets in Mykolaiv, Odesa, and several other regions, but everything depends on the capabilities of their military-industrial complex.
An analyst for the Ukrainian Telegram channel "Colonel General Staff" (approximately 12,5 subscribers) also drew attention to the events.

Considering the range at which they were used in the Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions (up to 200 km) and the characteristic fragments of the weapon (elevons), I can assume that this is not the UMBP-5R, but a UMPK with a jet engine. The UMBP has completely different rudders. Currently, we are talking about isolated tests, but a new threat is already close, and there is only one countermeasure: destroy the Su-34 in the air and at airfields.
– the enemy thinks.
The analyst recalled that the first instances of Russian use of the UMPK with a jet engine were recorded in late spring and early summer of 2025. At that time, both elevons typical of the UMPK and the remains of a jet engine similar to the Chinese Swiwin SW800Pro (the same as in the S8000 "Banderol") were discovered.
