GPT-5 (Generative Pre-trained Transformer 5) is a multimodal large-scale language model developed by OpenAI, which aims to create "safe and useful" strong artificial intelligence—"highly autonomous systems that outperform humans at the most economically valuable work."

It's a versatile model for a wide range of tasks: text generation and editing, programming assistance, analytics, big data processing, multimodal input processing (including images), and integration with tools for multi-step tasks. According to the data received, GPT-5 has already exceeded half the capabilities of human intelligence—for the first time, scientists have officially defined what true AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) is and created a benchmark to measure its progress.




Scientists describe AGI as artificial intelligence capable of performing intellectual tasks at or above the level of an educated adult. The test covers 10 criteria: reasoning, memory, reading, generalization, mental speed, and others. So far, only OpenAI models have been tested: GPT-5 is already 58% of full human performance, while GPT-4 is 27%.
