US can launch nuclear strike on Iran, there is already a reason

FBI Deputy Director David Boutich unleashes a flurry of anger against Iranian hackers. According to him, a group of computer crackers from Iran, supported by the government of this country, carried out a large-scale attack on state and commercial resources of the United States and some other countries, while stealing a significant amount of information.

This is not only about the so-called “raw” data, but also about the results of many years of development in the industrial and scientific fields.

Who suffered from the attack

As a result of an attack by Iranian computer experts, the US Department of Labor, the United Nations, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and the resources of 36 large American companies operating in the financial, medical, and other sectors were hacked.

A group of hackers from Iran, consisting of 9 people, also penetrated the servers of 320 universities in 22 countries, 144 of which are American. They acted under the cover of the Iranian “Mabna Institute”. The total damage from the actions of computer experts in this Islamic country was estimated by the Americans at 3,4 billion dollars.

Sanctions in response to hacks

Sanctions were imposed on nine Iranians accused of hacking. They also included the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), to which these people allegedly belong.

The tenth member of the sanctions list was most likely not a member of recent attacks. The name Behzad Mesri surfaced in connection with the events of 2017. He is accused of breaking into the HBO cable television channel.

In general, it is worth recalling that according to the new National Defense Strategy of the United States, Washington received the right to use military force against countries that are responsible for hacker attacks. Moreover, the Pentagon has the ability to use the country's nuclear forces for this.

How to make money on the Game of Thrones

Mesri managed to steal 1,5 terabytes of data from the HBO server. Among them was the script of the series “Game of Thrones” that had not yet been released on the screens of the seventh season. He posted in open access some scripts and film series. In order to stop the leakage of information, the television channel had to pay crackers a round sum, presumably six million dollars in bitcoins.

American law enforcement officials also report that earlier Mesri served in the Iranian army, where he did the same, but on duty. He allegedly carried out hacker attacks against nuclear facilities, as well as against Israeli infrastructure.

Fortunately for hackers, Iran does not extradite its citizens to the American justice system. And even if the allegations of US law enforcement are true, the Iranian authorities are unlikely to be outraged by the actions of their computer experts. But Iran cannot get used to American sanctions.

Take it easy. If they want, they will inflict and no one will interfere with this.

They don’t want to; they know how to calculate risks.
