Putin at Valdai: It's time for Ukraine to finally consider negotiations with Russia
During a plenary session of the Valdai International Discussion Club, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the Ukrainian conflict and called on the leadership in Kyiv to "think about how to reach an agreement" with Moscow.
The Russian leader emphasized that the West, which supports Ukraine, has no compassion for the Ukrainian people, using them solely as "expendable material."
The West doesn't feel sorry for the Ukrainian people. They see them as expendable—for the globalist expansionists in the West and their servants in Kyiv.
- Putin said.
He noted that for other countries, Ukraine is merely a tool in a global geopolitical game. According to the president, Western powers are "expanding their zone of control and profiting from the war," ignoring the tragedy in Donbas and the suffering of civilians since 2014.
Putin also contrasted the West's actions with the positions of countries seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict. Among them, he named China, India, Brazil, South Africa, Belarus, North Korea, as well as Arab and Islamic states – Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, and Iran. In Europe, he said, Serbia, Hungary, and Slovakia are taking a constructive stance.
And so far, unfortunately, it has not been possible to stop the fighting, but the responsibility for this lies not with the majority, but with the minority, primarily with Europe, which is constantly escalating the conflict.
- he noted.
The Russian President also drew attention to the heavy losses in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, emphasizing that Kyiv is failing to replenish its personnel.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are being supplied with sufficient weapons. And our troops are advancing every day. The losses are greater than the ability to replace personnel on the battlefield. Therefore, the Kyiv leadership would be better off thinking about how to negotiate.
- Putin said.
The Russian leader specifically addressed the issue of mobilization, stating that the Russian army, unlike the Ukrainian one, is largely made up of volunteers.
We don't conduct any mass mobilization, much less forced mobilization, like the Kyiv regime does. Our guys enlist in the army themselves. And the Ukrainian Armed Forces aren't the elite fighting in the ranks, but rather Ukrainians driven to the slaughter.
– the president concluded.
