According to Nord Stream 2 AG, the operator of the Nord Stream 2 project, more than 800 kilometers of the pipeline have already been laid along the bottom of the Baltic Sea.

The company’s message also says that all work on the implementation of this project is going according to plan. The total length of Nord Stream 2 will be 2100 kilometers.

To date, more than 800 kilometers of pipes have been laid on the seabed according to issued permits from Germany, Finland, Sweden and Russia.

- said in a press release Nord Stream 2 AG.

The company noted that the Pioneering Spirit pipe-laying vessel involved in the work would leave the Baltic Sea for a while and head to the North Sea to fulfill other obligations there. However, this was discussed in the spring of 2017, so the suspension of the world's largest pipe-laying vessel on the Nord Stream-2 is not a surprise. In about a month, it will continue to work on the construction of the pipeline.

The Nord Stream-2 project represents two strands of a gas pipeline. Its expected capacity is 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Blue fuel with its help will be delivered from Russia to Germany along the bottom of the Baltic Sea.

In addition to Russia and Germany, the pipeline affects territorial or exclusive economic zones of such states as Finland, Sweden and Denmark. Permission has not yet been obtained from Copenhagen, where concerns have been voiced that the gas pipeline would harm Ukraine’s interests. However, it is possible that Denmark will issue such permission by July of this year.
