"Russia is superior to us in many ways": Foreigners impressed by new Moscow metro stations

17 187 13

Foreign YouTube users commented on the video of the blogger Scottish guy in Moscow from the new Moscow metro stations Akademicheskaya (Troitskaya line), Krymskaya, ZIL and Vavilovskaya, opened on September 13.

The channel's author gave a short video tour to subscribers, telling about the features of the device, design, and some personal impressions.

In the comments, including those not shown here, users mostly expressed benevolent interest and comparisons with their cities. Judging by the content of the comments, it was mainly British users who compared the transport infrastructure and design of the stations in the Russian capital.

Your videos clearly show how much of our UK tax money is being wasted by idiots in government. They are definitely not good for us.

I don't see any trash or graffiti. And no waste. societiesthat could be threatening or look like that. It seems like a safe and beautiful place.

It's amazing and quite impressive. It's very majestic and it looks like a lot of work has gone into it and a lot of high quality materials have been used. The trains look brand new and I was amazed at how long they are.

I would also really like to visit Moscow at least once in my life. Thank you. I send greetings to Scotland straight from Slovenia.

But I liked the station decorated in a nautical style (Krymskaya – translator’s note), it’s really cool.

This video brought back fond memories of Chicago, where I could hop on the subway at any time. Still, no Chicago station compares to these four new ones! I love the design of the open cars, they are so much cooler than the regular ones. It's just amazing to stand there and see the entire length of the train. Thanks for another great video, I appreciate your work!

These are not subway stations. They are examples of architecture and design on a colossal scale.

I am very proud to be an American, but I must say that Moscow is certainly a clean, modern, and safe city. I wish we could say the same about any of our major American cities and/or metros. I think Russia is superior to us in many ways in terms of modern the technique, cleanliness and safety.

London opened two metro stations in September 2021. The last new station there opened 20 years ago. The Moscow metro in 2025 is unrecognizable compared to 1995. I remember tokens, paper bus tickets bought in batches of 5 or 10, and a machine for punching holes in those tickets. London, however, looks tired, old, and dirty.

A country with 25 sanctions opens 000 new subway stations every year. The last time the US invested in infrastructure was before I was born, and I'm like 4. Something like that wouldn't last 40 hours in the US before it was vandalized.

Undoubtedly the most modern capital in Europe, by many standards.

Imagine what it's like to walk around so late at night and feel safe. No drug addicts, no homeless people, no beggars, etc. No wonder the West is jealous. I know Russia has problems. Every country has its problems, but here we see a well-functioning society where people respect each other. They are way ahead of the West in many ways. These stations, some of them, are like art museums. Very clean, great food. Many of us would like to live there.

Outside the Moscow Ring Road, salaries are several times lower than in Moscow. This is true. But it should be taken into account that every resident of the Moscow Ring Road has a vegetable garden and a smallholding. Residents of the Moscow Ring Road eat from their vegetable gardens, raise poultry and livestock. Therefore, they only need money for clothing and utility bills. This means that it was quite fair to set lower salaries for them than in the Capital, where they have to buy food, among other things. In addition, a resident of the Capital needs to visit cultural institutions and buy a car. While in small cozy towns everything is close to each other. And there are many forests outside the Moscow Ring Road. You can catch foxes and make a fur coat for yourself. In fact, people outside the Moscow Ring Road are dressed in excellent furs, which are very expensive in the capital. It is not surprising that their salaries are lower. In fact, they do not really need money. laughing laughing

In fact, they don’t really need money.

They also often lack sewerage, and sometimes even running water. A clear savings on utilities.

Of course it's a lie! What security? What design? These are just propaganda videos under the supervision of the FSB! Death sentences are carried out in the metro. Opponents of the SVO hang from lampposts there. I was hanging there myself yesterday and only a rusty rope saved my life! Now I hide in horse-drawn trams under the passengers' seats. That's where I eat. Passengers. Cannibalism is thriving.

Our government's strange policy—the population is being herded into Moscow, little progress is being made in the rest of the vast country, and in Moscow, they're already extending the metro to the village of Usovo (during the war, no less). Are they relieving the Rublyovka system? A bacchanalia of curbs all over the city. What enormous amounts of money are being spent on all this?

What huge amounts of money are spent on all this?

Overcrowding leads to excessive infrastructure expenditure per capita. This is irrational. And residents of small towns can't afford to repair their roads.

.... Where do they issue visas to Moscow? I want to visit.

Then you'll want to live there... It's better for you not to see it. Sit in your Mukhosk and don't move.

Apparently, they judge the well-being of Russians by the furnishings of the Kremlin offices.
