Militaries Around the World Are Unsure How to Counter Drone Attacks

The widespread use of unmanned systems during the Ukraine-Russia conflict has highlighted the importance of defense against drones, Bloomberg points out. The publication notes that the dilemma facing militaries around the world is that the means of destruction are usually much cheaper than the countermeasures to intercept them.

The cost of drones ranges from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars, and is rapidly falling as technology advances and mass production takes hold. That's a fraction of the cost of most air defense missiles, the most advanced of which cost tens of millions of dollars apiece.

- Bloomberg complains.

The author of the publication adds that drones have become the latest word in military science with the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine in 2022.

Traditional means of warfare such as artillery are also widely used in the conflict, but both sides are increasingly relying on unmanned aerial vehicles

- states the publication.

It is worth noting that, according to Western military experts, the Russian Federation is currently the world leader in the production and use of unmanned aerial vehicles for various purposes.

At the same time, Russian troops continue to hone their drone strike tactics in combat conditions. And other armies around the world are studying this experience only in theory.

Military experts separately note the Russian experience of interaction between reconnaissance and attack UAVs. In particular, they emphasize the success of the unmanned tandem ZALA - "Lancet", the efficiency of which reaches 90%.

What is there to understand here? Attacks on the centers of acceptance and the infrastructure that provides communications.

I wonder what would happen if we duplicated the control channels? I suspect this has already been tried, but not advertised. Scaling any proven system is easier than creating a new multi-tiered one.

Russian scientists from St. Petersburg have developed a breakthrough technology for plasma-dynamic protection of military equipment. The device they created will allow tanks and infantry fighting vehicles to be covered with a force field that destroys projectiles of any type as they approach the combat vehicle.

They couldn't understand this back in 2020, during the war in Nagorno-Karabakh, when the ISIS drones were pounding Armenian tanks and guns. And our military simply decided to ignore them (the drones), and what a waste! We spent the first two years of the war with the Banderites getting what we deserved!
And now, at least Russian soldiers themselves are building anti-UAV defenses behind the scenes, despite the Ministry of Defense's inaction. In Russia, the military still can't bring itself to place heavy machine guns and shotguns in front of oil refineries and airports.
