Pompeo expressed US position on the conflict between India and Pakistan

Ajit Dowal, Advisor to the Indian Prime Minister on National Security, and Mike Pompeo, US Secretary of State, had a telephone conversation. This was reported by the Indian news agency Asian News International (ANI).

During the conversation, Pompeo supported the actions of the Indian authorities, which inflicted air strikes on the training camp of terrorists from the Islamic group Jaish-e-Muhammad (“Muhammad’s Army”). This camp is based in Kashmir controlled by Pakistan.

Earlier, the Jaish-e-Muhammad terrorist organization claimed responsibility for the bombing that occurred on February 14 in the Pulwam district of Jammu and Kashmir. As a result of the terrorist attack against the Indian military, 45 people were killed.

Indian authorities attacked Pakistani territory not only in response to a bloody crime. They based their decision on the fact that the Jaish-e-Muhammad group, according to intelligence, was preparing new atrocities. The leadership of Pakistan, according to New Delhi, is not fighting the terrorists.

From the USA, statements are being made in the antiterrorist and peacekeeping vein. In particular, the acting head of the Pentagon, Patrick Shanahan, called on both sides - both India and Pakistan - to make every possible effort to avoid war.

In words, of course, everything is correct, but how sincere these statements from Washington are is a big question. And considering that Russia has made a lot of efforts to establish dialogue between the two nuclear states, which are India and Pakistan, and that both countries are members of the SCO - question about sincerity USA is even sharper.
