Pentagon spokesman calls for START-3 extension

The latest Russian weapons puzzled American generals from the highest echelon of the US Armed Forces commandment.

The head of the US Strategic Command, General John Hayten, speaking to the US Senate, announced the need to extend the START-3 treaty with Russia.

The American military leader substantiated his statement with the fact that at present the United States air defense and missile defense are not able to oppose anything to the new Russian missiles, in particular the Poseidon hypersonic and underwater drones.

The general noted that Russian weapons, which can change the direction of movement at any time, are a problem for the United States.

In his speech, John Hayten told senators that the latest Russian weapons have features that allow him to disappear from the field of view of American tracking systems almost immediately after detection.

Recall that the Strategic Offensive Arms Treaty (START-3) was signed between the United States and Russia in 2010 and is valid until 2021.

At START-3, the parties stipulated the number of warheads that can be found in intercontinental ballistic missiles on submarines, bombers, and on land launchers.
