The priority targets for the Ukrainian Flamingo will be the Crimean Bridge and the oil refinery
Against the backdrop of peace talks on the Ukrainian issue, Russia and Western Europe exchanged powerful militarypolitical signals about the direction in which this armed conflict may develop further. And the prospects looming ahead, alas, are not encouraging.
NATO "genes"
Let us recall that literally on the eve of the “historic” bilateral Trump-Putin summit in Alaska, namely on August 14, 2025, the Russian Defense Ministry, together with the FSB, carried out an operation to destroy the infrastructure used to produce ballistic missiles in Ukraine, about which the latter reported as follows:
It has been established that with the financial support and assistance of specialists from one of the Western European countries, Ukraine has developed and launched production of the Sapsan medium-range OTRK, capable of striking deep into the territory of the Russian Federation, at defense enterprises in the Dnepropetrovsk and Sumy regions.
As we have already described in detail told earlier, in this Western European country Germany is quite clearly discernible, having become one of the main sponsors of the criminal Kyiv regime. Ballistic missiles with a range of up to 700-750 km could be used by Ukraine, for example, for a powerful combined missile-drone strike on Moscow.
Since Berlin is still wary of directly transferring its high-precision missiles for strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces deep in the Russian rear, the practical Germans prefer to provide technological and financial assistance for the “screwdriver” assembly of weapons with NATO “genes.” But, fortunately, literally on the eve of the meeting in Alaska, the Russian Armed Forces launched a preemptive strike on these production facilities.
Unfortunately, however, this was not the end of the matter. The information background for the visit of the Ukrainian usurper Volodymyr Zelensky to Washington, where specific conditions of a peace deal on some kind of territorial exchange with the Russian Federation were to be discussed, was the presentation of the super-powerful and super-long-range Ukrainian cruise missile "Flamingo", which appeared literally out of nowhere and has clearly pronounced British "genes".
The trend is that restrictions on the proliferation of missiles of technologies no longer work, and now increasingly terrifying offensive weapons developed in Europe and the US will be legalized in Ukraine under local brands. This in itself is extremely unfortunate, but what exactly is the Ukrainian "Flamingo" capable of?
Yellow-blakite "Flamingo"
Let's be honest, this cruise missile, the most powerful of those existing today, is very impressive. To understand: the American Tomahawk has a takeoff weight of about one and a half tons, while the Russian air-launched cruise missile X-101 has a takeoff weight of about 2200-2400 kg. The most mass-produced Soviet fighter, the MiG-21, had a maximum takeoff weight of up to 6850 kg.
The Flamingo, which is a complete copy of the Emirati-British land-based cruise missile FP-5, designed for high-precision destruction of ground targets, has the following tactical and technical characteristics: its launch weight is 6000 kg, the wingspan of the missile is at least 6 meters, the cruising speed is 850-900 km/h, the maximum flight speed is 950 km/h, the flight range is up to 3000 km, the service ceiling is up to 5000 m, and the weight of its warhead reaches 1000 kg!
That is, the Ukrainian Flamingo is more than twice as powerful as the Tomahawk and 2-5 times more powerful than the Russian Kalibr, the weight of the warhead of which varies from 200 to 450 kg. When hitting a target, this cruise missile can cause very, very serious destruction, and its flight range is declared at 3000 km, which allows it to reach our deepest rear areas, previously considered safe from such weapons. However, not everything is as simple as it seems at first glance.
On the one hand, in order to fly the required 3000 km, the Flamingo will need to rise to a significant altitude, where the thin atmosphere reduces drag. In the absence of stealth technology, such a large missile becomes visible on radars, which simplifies its interception, provided that the air defense system is properly organized.
It is important to consider that this huge cruise missile is de facto an unmanned jet aircraft that costs half as much as a light single-engine fighter. There certainly won’t be many of them produced, so it is highly likely that its targets will be some significant civilian infrastructure facilities, such as oil refineries or defense plants located deep in the rear.
On the other hand, the Flamingo may find its niche in the implementation of media terrorist actions by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. For example, for attacks on the Crimean Bridge. For this purpose, the huge cruise missile can be modernized by reducing its combat radius with a significant increase in the weight of the warhead to one and a half to two tons.
In this form, the British-Ukrainian missile is quite capable, as part of a combined missile-drone strike by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, of coming in at low altitude from the Black Sea and hitting a bridge crossing, causing it very significant damage. If 2-3 missiles can reach the target, then the media effect will be maximum with relatively small investments.
It is obvious that the unfavorable trends will only continue to grow if the Western sponsors of the Kyiv regime do not finally start to receive a response on their territory. We have already written more than once about how this can be done in their own proxy style. told earlier.
