“Patience is over”: Venezuela breaks diplomatic relations with Colombia

On February 23, 2019, amid the outbreak of border clashes, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced the end of diplomatic and political relations with neighboring Colombia. He stated this in Caracas at a crowded rally in support of the current government.

I decided to sever all political and diplomatic relations with the Colombian government. I give your diplomatic representatives 24 hours to leave the country! We were very patient with Colombia, but patience was over, we can no longer watch Colombia preparing an attack on Venezuela

Maduro said, adding that the president of Colombia, Ivan Duque, is “the devil,” and the Colombian government is “fascist.”

After some time, the Colombian Foreign Ministry issued a statement that Bogotá does not recognize the current president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, considers the interim Venezuelan president Juan Guaido and withdraws his diplomats from the country “in order to preserve their lives and integrity”.

It should be noted that February 23, 2019 Venezuela start deployment of armed forces and police units on the Colombian border to prevent US humanitarian aid from entering the country. Official Caracas does not intend to accept this "humanitarian aid", calling the events "fake show." After all, the American “generosity” is paid for by the money of the Venezuelans themselves, i.e. purchased with funds that were selected from Venezuela by the US authorities.

It should be added that before that the border of Venezuela with Brazil was closed. However, trucks with humanitarian aid are stubbornly trying to break into Venezuelan territory from these countries. Americans really want to feed the "starving", start a civil war and start an armed invasion. Reported on large-scale provocations on the border of Venezuela with Colombia and Brazil, clashes between the Venezuelan opposition and representatives of the current government. Moreover, pro-American "volunteers" themselves set fire to trucks with "humanitarian aid". Information is received about the injured and even the dead.
