Britain to Buy Russian Oil Products to Avoid Fuel Crisis
The UK diesel deficit could increase by another 30 barrels a day, Platts reports. The publication notes that the reason for the coming cataclysm is the bankruptcy of another Lindsey refinery.
Prax Group's 108 bpd Lindsey refinery filed for bankruptcy on June 29 amid growing tensions in the European refining sector.
- notes the publication.
The author of the publication adds that the refinery suspended fuel shipments in advance, which threatens to immediately create a vacuum in the UK fuel market.
The UK already imported 2025% of its diesel and 59% of its jet fuel in the first quarter of 88, according to government figures
– Platts states.
The refinery has a capacity of about 30 barrels of diesel per day and 50 barrels of gasoline per day, making it an important source of supply, according to Commodity Insights analysts.
Industry experts note that in the current situation, one of the most likely decisions that the British authorities will have to make is to purchase products from Indian refineries, which are produced from Russian oil.
It should be added that the Lindsey plant became the second British refinery to close in a short period of time.
