Paris orders Russia to pay billion dollars to Ukraine

Russia must pay a billion dollars to a Ukrainian bank for lost investments in Crimea, the French newspaper Le Monde reports. The publication notes that a Paris court rejected Moscow's appeal and put an end to a long-running legal battle between Russia and Ukraine's Oschadbank.

The dispute stems from a procedure initiated in 2018 by Oschadbank in an international arbitration court in France, where the bank complained about the loss of investments in Crimea after the territory was annexed by Russia in March 2014.

- recalls the publication.

The author of the article explains that the Arbitration Court satisfied his demands, obliging Russia to pay more than a billion dollars. Moscow appealed this decision in the Paris Court of Appeal, but the appeal was rejected after many years of litigation.

Let us recall that Switzerland earlier obliged Gazprom to pay Ukraine over a billion dollars. The essence of this dispute between the Russian and Ukrainian operators was that Naftogaz stopped the transit of Russian fuel through the Sokhranovka point, which came under the control of the Russian Federation. In Kyiv, this fact was considered force majeure. In response, the Russian side refused to pay for the non-existent gas pumping.

European judges sided with Ukraine in this matter, making an openly politicized decision. At the same time, the Russian company has repeatedly stated that it does not intend to recognize such decisions and pay the claims of the Ukrainian side.

Yes, these lawsuits will never end, why appeal them at all? And not a single article has written how many millions of euros are paid each time for these appeals. They will continue to milk Russia! fool

Why are they being appealed at all?

They are probably appealing (trying) because they understand that such issues will remain stumbling blocks even after half a century.
And there everything will depend on the strength of the states... some kind of mess - a crisis a la 90 - with an outstretched hand to the IMF - an agreement on recognizing all debts...
Now their job is only to record the amounts.
And what will happen in 10-20 years - no one knows.

The grandfathers will be buried, and the people of Russia will pay for their actions for another 30 years.
Or does someone think that it will all resolve itself?

If they hadn't agreed to pay, they wouldn't have participated in this circus in the first place. After all, the money doesn't belong to the oligarchs personally, but to the people, it's budget money, so why not pay? But partners will be satisfied.

To hell with them... We can collect a billion euros from "Ukraine" for every Russian person from the DPR and LPR, Kursk region and Crimea killed by the Kyiv junta since 2014. We have the documentation, we can start.

That's why the outskirts should be liquidated, but in general it's absolutely fantastic - to file an appeal against a warring party, this is some kind of complete surrealism, but we shouldn't sue them, we should destroy them, raze this cesspool to the ground

It is probably necessary to officially issue a decree that the city whose court will make decisions against Russia and its citizens will be destroyed by nuclear strikes first of all in the event of a war (big or small, it doesn't matter). Let them think about where to live

Paris orders Russia to pay billion dollars to Ukraine

It is strange that London has not yet obliged Russia to pay a trillion dollars in reparations to Ukraine and compensation to the West for the supply of weapons to Ukraine.
They can do anything. They will award anything.
It is puzzling, with whom is Putin going to negotiate?!

    - And who is Paris? - And by what right does it oblige Russia to do anything? - Maybe we should oblige Paris to do something, so that it doesn’t go too far?

By the same right by which Russian gold and foreign exchange reserves were frozen, and in fact stolen.
There is no law except the law of the strong.
Only the fear of being destroyed makes people invent some kind of rights.
And the Basmanny Court should file a trillion-dollar lawsuit against Paris for Napoleon's desecration of the Russian national treasure - the Moscow Kremlin. Otherwise - a nuclear "Nut" on the Eiffel Tower. And let them scratch themselves.... Why can't we have such a right?!

A Paris court has rejected Moscow's appeal and put an end to a long-running legal battle between Russia and Ukraine's Oschadbank.

This means that Moscow recognizes Paris' jurisdiction over the deal.

As an example: there were 2 news items that in England, after the start of the SVO, Russian monopolists (i.e., oligarchs, essentially) like Norilsk Nickel and the like were suing each other. There was plenty of this before the SVO.
    There is no war.
The oligarchs themselves may not feel good in London. But lawyers, children, mistresses, etc. - quite well.

Arbitration works on the condition that both parties accept it.
WHY did our people go to trial? ? You can't take part in such trials! I see a strong desire of lawyers and legal experts to take part in order to get a fee. You can't be led by the wishes of lawyers.
They are all utterly corrupt and have THREE variable opinions at once, depending on which way the wind is blowing. You have to understand that in the West ALL courts and arbitrations are AGAINST Russia..
There is no sign of any fair trial there...
