India begins purchasing Russian helicopters

Russian Helicopters of Russia plans to begin deliveries of Mi-171A2 helicopters to India by the end of 2019. This was announced by the CEO of the enterprise Andrei Boginsky during the Aero India 2019 exhibition, where he was present.



News agency TASS he said that at the beginning of this year he was awaiting approval by the Indian side of a certificate for the civilian version of this aircraft. And the arrival of helicopters in India is expected to begin in the last quarter.

Cambodia, Brazil and Malaysia are also interested in this model, the Director General added.

The Mi-171A2 helicopter is an improved version of the Mi-8/17 model. This car was able to achieve a 10 percent increase in maximum speed. In addition, it installed new engines and improved digital equipment. The changes made can reduce the crew to two people.

It is also known about plans to organize repair of Mi-17 helicopters in India.

At the moment, cooperation between Moscow and New Delhi in the field of aviation is expanding more and more. Several Russian airlines are already planning production facilities in Indian territory.
