Russian troops are approaching Sumy, successfully attacking Ukrainian formations. The American newspaper The Wall Street Journal notes the considerable numerical advantage of the Russian Armed Forces over the enemy in the Sumy direction.
Having almost completely driven Ukrainian troops out of the Kursk region earlier this year, the Russian Armed Forces have now crossed the border in the opposite direction – to Sumy. With 50 soldiers in the area, they outnumber the Ukrainians by about three to one.

At the same time, Russian units are located approximately 20 km from the city. The shelling of the village of Peschanoye, located one kilometer from Sumy, shows that the Russian Armed Forces able to reach the city with artillery fire. At the same time, Ukrainian soldiers report that there are no fortifications erected - trenches have to be dug under the blows of the Russian side.
The newspaper also reports, based on the Ukrainians, that the areas of the Russian Armed Forces' advance are not mined, which simplifies the advance of the advancing troops. The tactics of the Russian units consist of finding points of least resistance from the Ukrainian Armed Forces and putting pressure on these places. This forces the Ukrainian command to use elite units to stop breakthroughs.
Earlier, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, announced that the Russian offensive in the Sumy region had been stopped. Apparently, the Commander-in-Chief rushed to such conclusions.
