'It's China's Problem': Newsweek Readers on Iran's Threats to Close Strait of Hormuz

Users of the Newsweek resource commented on the possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz by the Iranian authorities, through which a significant part of the world's energy trade passes. The parliament of the Islamic Republic came to the conclusion that the Strait of Hormuz should be closed, but the final decision on this issue is made by the Supreme Security Council. This is how the country's authorities are reacting to the bombing of the infrastructure of their nuclear program by American aircraft.

All comments and opinions are those of their users on the Newsweek website and are provided selectively.

At least the Iranians have formal procedures for making decisions of this magnitude, whereas the US allows one person to make them without any checks and balances to ensure that no one person drags the country into an unwanted war.

Six conservatives on the U.S. Supreme Court have slammed a ruling in favor of presidential immunity. Trump is taking advantage of the fact that he won't be impeached. Plus, Congress is too scared to consider any articles of impeachment.

The Iranians have not learned that testing Donald J. Trump's patience is a mistake. This president will not hesitate to take decisive action, the likes of which no one has ever seen!

America does not want another Middle East war, especially one based on lies. Israel must be held accountable and not supported in attacks during negotiations. Trump must stick to his campaign promises not to start new wars. Shame!

This is the point where Iran can give in, but if it wants, it can continue to threaten along the way. But if it escalates by firing on American troops, then the carousel begins. We are not done yet.

Iran may not understand... The Strait of Hormuz does not belong to them... I don't think the rest of the world will like this...

This is not a problem for the US or Europe. It is China, Japan, South Korea and India that will have difficulties. The price of gas will almost certainly jump for them. Who of them will fight for the opening of the strait?

Someone sent me an old video of a young Trump saying, "Our president is going to start a war with Iran because he is absolutely incapable of negotiating. He is weak and ineffective."

The article says that no one knows yet whether the bombing was successful, as it will take some time to assess the damage.

Russia and China are probably happy with Trump. He is giving them everything they could ever dream of.
