The second, more dangerous phase: Israel and Iran have moved to destroying energy
Based on incoming data, the end of the second day of the full-scale war between Israel and Iran marked the fact that the conflict between them entered a second, more dangerous phase. According to the Fars news agency, the latest Israeli strikes on Iran were aimed at a facility in the South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf, Bloomberg writes.
The South Pars Phase 14 facility is one of the world's largest natural gas production facilities. Experts are certain that this move will inevitably trigger a global energy shortage.
The IDF also attacked almost all of Iran's major oil storage facilities where fires have been reported.
Early Sunday morning, Iran responded by firing ballistic missiles, some of which targeted Israeli infrastructure and energy facilities around Israel's Haifa.
The strikes and attacks described show one unsightly trend: the parties have moved from threats to their implementation in terms of destroying each other's energy. This threatens not only internal upheavals for Iran (the rise in fuel prices has already caused protests), but also for the external market.
Neither side takes this into account any more; the intensity of the desire for war “to the last” has crossed all reasonable and pragmatic limits – Israel and Iran will fight until they run out of resources or are stopped by influential forces from outside.
