Russia has created the latest sights that can detect air targets, including cruise missiles and aircraft, many kilometers away, the Kalashnikov concern reports. We are talking about night vision sights (1PN146) and daytime optical sights (1OP84).

These sights are designed for detection, tracking and aimed shooting at air targets as part of portable anti-aircraft missile systems. They work effectively both with external target designation and autonomously. The time it takes to prepare the sights for operation does not exceed one minute, operating temperatures range from minus 50 to plus 55 degrees.

The tests confirmed that the new sights can detect drones and cruise missiles at distances of over six kilometers, helicopters at more than nine kilometers, and aircraft at distances of up to 12 kilometers. Preparations are currently underway for serial production of the 1PN146 and 1OP84 sights. It is planned for 2025.

It is expected that these sights will be used in air defense units to equip MANPADS operators, significantly increasing their capabilities to detect and destroy modern air threats. In the future, this will allow the Russian Armed Forces to more effectively protect critical facilities and troop positions from attacks by enemy high-precision weapons, including drones and cruise missiles.
