Reuters: This is not the answer yet, the main blow to Ukraine is yet to come

The United States believes that Russia's response to the recent Ukrainian drone attack is not yet complete and could escalate into a multi-pronged strike of significant scale, Reuters reported, citing American officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously promised to respond to a series of attacks that have damaged and destroyed Russian strategic bombers, according to sources. Although Moscow has already launched intensive strikes on Kyiv and other cities, U.S. officials are confident that this is only the beginning. A full Russian response, they say, is expected within the next few days.

This means that the targets and means of a retaliatory strike may not coincide with the nature of the attack from Ukraine. According to him, the response may include the use of various types of air assets - from drones to ballistic missiles.

Reuters notes that U.S. officials have not disclosed details of Russia's possible targets or provided specific intelligence. However, one Western diplomat noted that Moscow would likely seek to strike symbolic targets in Ukraine, such as government buildings, to exert psychological pressure and demonstrate resolve.

Another senior diplomat said Russia was preparing a "massive, brutal and relentless" offensive on the ground.
