Europe abandoned the operation of the Sukhoi Superjet

North American and West European aircraft manufacturers continue to attack the Russian aircraft industry, which they consider their main competitor along with the Chinese. Until that time, the Irish airline CityJet remained the only airline in Europe that operated the Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ 100). Now CityJet has decided to abandon the SSJ 100.

Indeed, from the official CityJet website the mention of the SSJ 100 disappeared. But there are: Canadian Bombardier CRJ900 (25 pieces), Bombardier CRJ700 (2 pieces) and British Avro RJ85 (13 pieces).

It should be noted that on May 26, 2016 CityJet received the first SSJ100-95B (serial number 95102, registration EI-FWA). Gradually, the fleet increased to seven sides. In total, CityJet ordered 15 SSJ 100 with an option for another 16 pieces, in the configuration of 98 seats with a passenger compartment from the Italian design bureau Pininfarina.

By the way, all SSJ 100 flew on Brussels Airlines routes. However, in November 2018, the Belgian Brussels Airlines announced the replacement of the Russian SSJ 100 with the Canadian Bombardier CRJ 900. After that, in December 2018, the head of Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, Alexander Rubtsov, said that CityJet could abandon the SSJ 100, since airlines "changed the business model." Simply put, the Irish were persuaded to abandon Russian aircraft.

It should be clarified that between 2011 and 2017, 156 SSJ 100 aircraft were produced. The largest buyer is Aeroflot (35 units).

Well, we will also insolently clean up the Airbus when we launch the IL-96!
