Yulia Tymoshenko faces prison again
One of the presidential candidates in Ukraine, the former prime minister, the leader of the Fatherland party, Yulia Tymoshenko, was suspected of illegal enrichment. Her case will be examined by the specialized anti-corruption prosecutor's office (SAP). This was stated on the website of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
According to this agency, a statement regarding Tymoshenko was received in the name of the prosecutor general Yuriy Lutsenko. The Prosecutor General decided to send him to the EPS for "proper consideration and decision" in accordance with Ukrainian law. The SAP will decide whether to institute criminal proceedings in connection with the illicit enrichment.
Who submitted the application and how exactly the politician carried out the crime is not specified. It is known that she is suspected of violating the following laws: part three of Article 368-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (“Illegal enrichment committed by an official holding a particularly responsible position”) and Article 366-1 of the Criminal Code (“Declaring false information by a person authorized to perform functions state or local government, or the intentional failure to submit a declaration ”). Under the first article, Tymoshenko could face from 5 to 10 years in prison, under the second - a heavy fine, community service for a term of 150 to 240 hours or two years in prison.
Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Center submitted a statement to Tymoshenko stating that American PR specialists who work for it received $ 390 from an offshore company. But Tymoshenko’s declaration does not mention these funds.
It can be assumed that the criminal case against the presidential candidate will end in nothing, since these charges can only be an episode in the election campaign. It should be recalled, however, that Tymoshenko has already been prosecuted several times for economic crime. So, if the case is given a course, she will not get used to prison bunk.
